Hopefully this means we can finally get it sorted as there’s so much potential! It’s a shithole let’s be honest.

But it’s had me and many others sat in it, quite literally. So not a waste.

And besides, how often are we so close to full capacity that we need that space? Pretty sure I’ve only ever seen a few teams have their away fans in it.

too late for me - Euro Millions ticket bought 8 a.m. today in Asda - BUT - if I win the £37,000,000 I will happily pay for the preservation of the iconic West Stand on condition it's renamed the Preedy-Cryne Stand.

and to go O/T - there's a Preservation Order on the old red painted telephone box opposite The Royal Bank of Scotland.

You're a good man. If I win the 90 odd million pounds tonight I will be willing to do the same.

Could knock it down, stick a new roof over it and experiment with safe standing?

The bogs should be protected status though, you could never replicate that authenticity! :p

Is this the stand or the Tyketanic? Either way both are unsinkable , aren’t they?

So if they DO pull it down and build something what will we rename 'West Stand Bog' ...... 'Grove Street Restroom' ?

They stuck a plaster over it a couple of years ago with those red sides to the west stand. It's no better really though. It's had its time. I've sat in it many times over the years and enjoyed it but we are ready for something that belongs in the 21st century.

While ever the ground disputes are going on, I fear the west stand being left to rot. The owners won't spend money on something that's not really theirs to maintain. I see a really desperate situation unfolding unfortunately.

Served its purpose well, but imo it looks horrific and brings down the rest of the stadium.

It's surprising it hasn't "accidentally" gone up in smoke, particularly when lockdown was on.

I'm not bothered either way what's done with it. The only thing that is concerning is the lack of use that side of the ground is getting. The area should be utilised. If there are contractual / ownership problems relating to it they need sorting.

This thread highlights a massive issue.

A lot of folk who seem to agree the west stand is an absolute state and should have gone years ago.

An equal amount of folk who all insist it should stay as it is as they love it.

There is never going to be an overall concensus and agreement.

But it can’t last forever. You can’t really argue against the fact that it could easily have been replaced two decades ago or more, or that it is clearly the cause of issues for the club.

And another worrying thing is that we look at the East stand and ponty end as modern stands in comparison. They are in reality actually pretty woeful - it’s just that the west is a relic of yesteryear. The north is the newest - but poorly designed and difficult to get up to a standard to have all its capacity used.

In my view the west stand does have to go - if for no other reason than to stop the tv cameras filming the red brick wall on grove street when peddling the ‘little old Barnsley’ rhetoric. That has been embarrassing for maybe two decades - but it’s still happening.

I'm not one in favour of preserving the west stand if something more modern can be erected but the wall has to be preserved, hasn't it?

Need to get in the ex-Doncaster chairman from back in the day, he was handy at setting fire to stands.

Not being offered anything different from either the new or old owners hence no opinion on something needing to change or having to change.
