My first thought was that it was a penalty But it was bizarre that he gave it on the linesman’s advice…and then spoke to the linesman. he was utterly appalling - not far off Willard and lost control completely
I thought it was very soft and that we'd got away with it until the ref convinced the linesman he'd seen something.
Never a pen for me, Williams played the ball, but they were appealing for absolutely everything so I think the officials between them just got bamboozled. Justice definitely done in the end
Highlights clearly show it wasnt a pen. That’s the reason their lad decided against the pen and went for a pass back instead.
Regardless of if it was or wasn't, what I saw i was the ref not give it, two Coventry players screaming in the refs face, the inept linesman not doing anything, and then the ref gave it.
Soft pen. Stupid challenge whatever you think. Ridiculous preamble to give the bloke the ball from our new Harry Maguire and Williams J to set it up in the first place. Collins provides the get out of jail card.
Played the ball. Not a pen, but not so keen on a challenge like that. Poor refereeing which capped a terrible performance.
If the linesman thinks it's a penalty shouldn't he place his flag across his chest? How he could give it from directly behind the play is beyond me. The ref was perfectly placed to make a decision. Reckon Napoleon was intimidated into it by 2 gobshites screaming down at him.
