Never seen a forward line as bad. The standard of that forward display tonight is league two. If the two new lads are half decent they could play 50% fit and be more effective.
I always try edge towards the positives but I think I agree. With Carlton Morris now out and Devante Cole not looking like he’s going to offer very much I’m thinking we need to wait and see what these new lads have to offer us in attack.
Time Woodrow concentrated on linking play up instead of his obsession of trying to be fouled or giving fouls away.
He links play up well. But it's time he was afforded the role of out an out striker that he should be
Terrible. woodrow, odour, freiser, miller, adeboyejo and cole tonight. Woodrow would get into a few championship teams. Rest would struggle to get in a league one team.
What role has he been playing ever since we switched to 3-4-3? To be honest, he looks like he’d be better playing a 10 role.
Where are the other lads? I haven’t seen anything from the club about them(I haven’t scanned the pre match notes either) Are they injured? Are they unfit? or are they crap?
Laughable diving at times, easily bullied, can’t pass. Needs to start scoring otherwise he’s not contributing anything.
He’s always been the kind of forward to drop deep. When he first joined, under Stendel, he’d drop deep and Moore would lead the line. The majority of his goals are from the edge, or outside the box. He’s a clever player, he’s good on the ball. Him not being played as a ‘striker’ wasn’t the weakness tonight, it was who was either side of him that was.
An injury in Morris and 2 non fit strikers and we look poor up there but that’s a lot of loss to be fair. Woodrow showed some decent link up play tonight but he hasn’t had many shots testing the keeper so far this season, maybe once against Cardiff? Cauley’s link up play with Brittain with Callum then playing it across the 6 yard box needed another Woodrow in there.
I'm not disagreeing with "either side of him". But when he has players like that, his game is shot to pieces cos he's the only one skilful enough to try owt. Which then makes him ineffective. Dropping deep does nothing. When he's got a decent players alongside him, he's very effective. So, I don't see the point in dropping deep when the others are powder puff. It just makes it worse
The only bit of decent play I saw tonight from him, was the reverse pass to Brittain. That’s it. Morris is our Talisman up top & he’s only been here half a season. Losing him is a massive blow.
You think he had a good game tonight? And that he was let down by those around him? What about when he tries, nearly every time these days, to play their man rather than the ball when it comes near him in the air? It hardly ever works, it leads to either a foul or a breakdown in our forward momentum. He was caught out a few times as well tonight for just being too slow. Their defenders just kept nipping in to take it off him. That's not anyone else's deficiency. He has good games. But he is becoming less and less consistent.
You said he wasn’t allowed to play as a proper striker. My point was that it’s quite obvious dropping deep is something he does naturally and isn’t necessarily told to do. He’s done it whilst ever he’s been here.
I'm saying Why drop deep. When you are the only threat we carry, then play the out and out striker. To get on the end of through balls or crosses. Which he can't do when he's dropped deep. I'm not convinced it's all natural. Because if he was told to stay up top and ignored it, he'd likely be taken off.
