Early days I know but I’m just looking to see what everyone’s thoughts are so far on Benson? I think there’s a player there, but me personally I’d like to see a more experienced, older head at the side of him and use either Benson or Palmer. Think we’re a little soft in the centre.
Both Benson and Palmer have a lot going for them, particularly Josh, but an experienced head alongside, at least for this season would be a perfect combination for either. Come home Conor Hourihane
Potential there but needs to get street wise Seems to have more time on the ball than anyone else which is a good sign although very nearly got caught out which would have led to a goal if they had finished better I like him
Would add I am not convinced by his set pieces delivery so far - everything seems a bit floaty which is easy to defend things need to be whipped in as hourihane and Mowatt do / did
Thought he looked great against Bolton last night he dropped very deep to receive the ball and his distribution and shooting was poor. Palmer is good for breaking up play and just keeps improving id be looking to offer Palmer a new deal as his expires next season. If we bring anyone else in im not sure where it leaves kane or even styles.
My MOTM by a country mile last night. I was perplexed when they announced Palmer. Judging by the reactions of a few sat around me, they felt similarly. Early days, but I like how he's hungry for the ball and he seems generally very efficient in possession. Last night reminded me a little of the role that McPhail used to play for us. Given the obvious concerns about the other summer signings, I'm already confident from what I've seen that he's going to to be a worthwhile signing.
Shows promise and has done OK - too early to form much of an opinion but no complaints from me so far
100% agree. Proper footballer. Can beat a man. Not afraid to tackle. Spots a pass and plays it, whether a simple pass or an incisive defence splitting pass. As someone on here said earlier, he's also a visionary. Passed to Cole before he even came on the pitch. Box to box. Good engine. The more games he plays the better he's going to get.
Think he'll go on to be as good as Mowatt and possibly Hourihane and Redders. Looking forward to watching his development with us.
I like the look of him so far. Not afraid to have the ball which is a big plus. He looks to do something with it, which may not always come off granted. Better than farting abart with it though, tippy tapping side to side. I very much look forward to seeing his development.
Looks decent so far but would benefit from an old head alongside him. Biggest disappointment to date has been his set pieces, especially as we were told they were one of his strengths. Hopefully will improve with match practice….
I think the young lad has had a decent start to his Barnsley career and am looking forward to seeing his development with us.
