Yep. We had centre halves coming on to play midfield last season, so we were already a midfielder short before mowatt left. Signed Benson, who looks a good player, now need one more. Particularly as I think Styles is looking more like a LWB than a CM
A big positive was the Palmer and Benson pairing in the middle. Benson really has something about him, was silky and has a great technique.
Agreed. That was great. If them strikers ever turn up and we can get a bit more depth on the bench then this team will do for me.
Palmer’s apparent struggle in the second halves of games is a bit of a concern. But when he’s good, he’s very good.
Are they, you know that for certain?! Sorry but I disagree with your original post, the game should have been put to bed before they got it back to 1-2. Adjust your expectations as the match proceeds and to be 0-2 up after 76 minutes and not win is very poor. All the hard work and positives from the first half completely undone in those last 20 minutes.
Some fans will, the majority I'm sure will be disappointed. When you're playing a good side, it sometimes happens. It's similar to the draw away at West Brom under Struber. It can get worrying, but we're 4 games into a 46 game season. Let's not get daft just yet.
Definitely, we can't just hold out until September tho just incase they are available. Action needs to be taken in this transfer window.
First half fitness levels made us look a lot sharper especially out of possession. Dropped off second half resulting in more yellow cards and dropping too deep. Plenty to look forward to.
Plenty of positives for me, they all put in a shift, they showed real quality in possession and out of possession, created enough chances to win comfortably whilst giving little at the back. What's not to like?
Odd one isn’t it. Looks great if it works but I still wonder why we continued to leave 3 up front. Thought we might have learned from Luton in how to see out a game.
They'll be in the top 6. It should have been put to bed, I said as much in my post. On another day, we might have. We didn't deal with the barrage well in the final 15 minutes. But for 60 minutes we were the better side. Is it completely undone? Are there no positives from that performance today?
I agree. It's one game in a 46 game season though. Overall, there's a lot more positives to take away today.
The club will be trying to get players in. But if teams aren't willing to let players leave earlier than deadline day, what are we meant to do.
I'm gutted that we dropped 2 points today but that first half is the best football we've played for years. It was sublime at times. We've played away at Cardiff and QPR and remain unbeaten. Luton was disappointing but they did to us what we did to many teams last season. Our best start for 5 years. We need an experienced CM and a left back, absolutely, to balance the squad and improve our game management. We need the Belgians available and Morris (along with Williams and Kane) as our bench is shiit. The manager simply can't make a sub without weakening the team (although he screwed up subbing Benson today). I hope we can continue to produce good displays away from home and pick up a few wins at home between now and the end of September. I genuinely believe we'll fly from October with a couple of new signings and our forward line and bench reinforced.
