    Sibbick was brilliant in that attack and isn't to blame when all Cole had to do was keep up with Toby as the fresh pair of legs, unmarked and find some space. Toby may as well have gone for goal himself.

    Cole did find space, unmarked. Sibbick did have the run on his marker and could have taken it on his own.

    Thing is, it was always going to be a frustrating start when we failed to recruit ( eligible or fit) players to sort our shortcomings.
    With more assured forwards ( or a choice of) we probably could have won that today, that and an experience CM to run the midfield.
    But today was another step forward in terms of performance and on we go!

    To be honest, I don't understand the logic behind signing Cole and letting Chaplin go as I'd much prefer the latter over the former. Having said that, now that Cole is here, he'll get my full support and I don't think we can judge him after a couple of cameos thus far. He's recovering from Covid and had an interupted pre-season so lets see how he goes when he gets a few games under his belt.

    think Toby was all out of puff to be able to get the precise pass as well, but Cole didn't want to stray offside.

    Easy to say from up here but he should have checked his run a bit rather than keeping the defender between him and Toby so toby could pull it back for him he was in the worst possible place

    We got a fee for Chaplin who was average at best, I don't remember too many complaining when we signed Cole on a free. I personally think that Cole will come good and offers something different as an out and out striker he was unfortunate today that he wasn't playing in the first half when we were dominating.

    To be fair to Sibbick he’d ran length of field after 90 plus minutes. Just thought Cole didn’t show much imagination to create himself some space.
    On reflection, no one person to blame apart from maybe Paul Conway for the bench offering such poor options. Surely he must see now that reinforcements are needed.

    Exactly this. I simply cannot comprehend the Cole bashing when he's hardly played. He may be crap he may be brilliant but give him some games to play and fit in. Please feel free to bump this entire thread if he ends up scoring a hat trick every week in 6 months. As to the chance late on he did nowt wrong. Sibbick did well but he could have played it earlier or cut in late on and passed. He did neither and the defender got in the way that's all.
