why put moon on then when you have Halme on the bench if he wanted more experience. Our strikers were the weak link again today. Had we had Dike playing today we'd have been out of sight by half time. Oduor did play better up front to be fair to him - hes finding his feet a little - tricky run into the box. I just think he needs more aggression - same as Woodrow. Too nice. 2 points dropped but at least we are heading in the right direction. One other thing is we need to stop messing about with it in the corners once again. Clear the fecker if you can first time. Both Kitching and Sibbick caught out with it today. Sibbick also switched off for their first goal. Seemingly gave up once the player went past him.
The board and coach have said we are looking to sign more experience. It was said about 3 weeks ago when Schopp had assessed the squad.Since then he has repeated that they are working hard to get the right player in before the window closes. So its not a dig from Marcus behind the clubs back as some are seeing it,just something they want to get over the line.
strikers bagging 2 goals away from home, is hardly weak.. Friezes has had a cracking start to the season, when most were writing him off as ‘surplus’.
I thought that its like when hecky said he needed experience but he'd already loaned out the most experienced player he had. Definatly had enough chances to score final ball and finishing let us down again I agree although points dropped plenty of positives from today. Defence looked shakey at times 2nd half kitching made a few **** ups we got away with, Britain and Toby could have done better for the 1st even though chair was offside, Austins movement was too good for helik for the 2nd
We wouldn't have made them, I'm 99% sure of that. But if we had someone with more experience of those big games at our disposal for the Swansea matches, we may have made the final.
Don’t understand how strikers have let us down today. We’ve scored two goals away at a good Championship side - that should be good enough to win.
Yes friesers had a great start and probably unfair to say he was below par. He should have hd the goal v cardiff as well and would have been 3 in 3.
Bit simplistic. Woodrow giving the ball away when not playing the right ball directly led to the first QPR goal, and what should have been 0-3 was 1-2 and the rest is history. Scoring isn’t the sole responsibility of forwards and defending isn’t the sole responsibility of the defence. The back three all struggled at some points, the midfield definitely did second half, after the substitutions in particular. Brittain hasn’t really been himself. Styles has looked better back at wing back but he struggled when Adomah came on. Though in fairness most would, he changed the game more than anyone else after he came on in my eyes. There has to be cohesion in the team. First half was great, second half it was terrible; too deep and too negative. That started from the first kick of the second half, meaning there has to be a failing in the instruction given at half time, not just a failing of those who came off the bench - and certainly not just a failing of only the back line and keeper to not concede.
It needs to be permanent yes Solly was but in the wrong position to be effective in giving experience , James yes but on loan , pay extra get Connor back for. 2/3 yr deal
From what I have seen Conor's contract is up next summer, so Villa will likely be trying to cash in. I've heard rumours he might be part of a swap for Ward Prowse, though I don't see that transfer happening. If he gets a prem move then obviously he will take it. If there are no buyers then a loan makes more sense than us buying him, he can put himself in the Championship shop window and hope for a decent free transfer. Apparently he is on £1.5m a year, if Villa can't sell then any amount of that is basically free cash for them, though they don't exactly need it. The question is how much would we be prepared to write off for a single season? If it happens though I think it'd be a similar effect to re-signing Hammill.
From what I saw it was a case of bad tactics from the manager that cost us the game. To take two creative midfielders off and replace them with centre backs just invited the opposition on. Now if he’s lamenting having proper midfielders to fill the sub positions I would agree with him. I hope he’s learned something from this game. Overall I was delighted with the performance and the first half was better than anything I saw last year. I’m much more optimistic now, but we do need a couple of midfielders for the campaign.
I think Moon for Palmer was almost inevitable from kick off. The fact Halme then came on rather than Williams / Styles to CM was telling.
Not sure you can can say forwards were our weak link tbh . Yes they missed a few chances but they scored two which should have been enough . If we needing more than two goals to win matches then I would say we need to look beyond the forwards .
The defending for that first goal was abysmal not something you expect a professional championship team to allow to happen.
