Right trying to get my head round latest requirements. Am I correct in thinking that if u are double vaxxed, there is no difference between green and amber on return?
U take a test 3 days before coming home and then 2 days after, no isolating.
The only difference is with amber u take one before leaving too.
Bleeding complicated, every site seems to say summat different and don't help when gov.uk ain't up to date either.

Think you’ve got it right there. We’re off to Algarve in a few weeks and Portugal is amber. Need a test within 72 hours of going , another within 72 hours of arriving back and then another within 2 more days.
Looking forward to holiday but not all the testing hassle. Doubt we’ll book another in the foreseeable but this is one already rebooked from last year.

Was looking at a week in a green area, and Azores has just gone green but on further investigation it doesn't really matter whether it's green or amber. Not sure I can be bothered with all the tests, might just go over to the in laws on the Norfolk coast.

I've just returned home after a 4 week trip to Germany, which was amber when we left, but then changed to green. We went by car through Holland, which is amber. We're both double vaccinated. We travelled by ferry from Newcastle to Amsterdam.

On the way out, we had to have quick tests at Newcastle (£75 each). We also had to fill in a Dutch immigration form to say we were driving directly to Germany, otherwise we'd have to quarantine 10 days in Holland. We weren't allowed to get out of the car in Holland.

Prior to coming back we had to get 2 quick tests in Germany to be allowed to board the ferry in Amsterdam. My wife's was free as she's a German citizen, mine was €25. We also had to fill in the UK passenger locator forms and book day 2 tests, at £55 each. We didn't need anything for Holland as we were travelling from an EU neighbour.

    Simple really...

I’m pretty sure you don’t need a test to go if you are double jabbed.

Baffled how you managed that then. Rules are pretty clear and the tests have to be uploaded as part of the passenger locator form.

You will be asked to show a negative test certificate and/or COVID vaccination certificate and your passenger locator form when you check-in for your flight to mainland Portugal. Your airline may deny boarding if you cannot show these documents before you board. Check with your airline before you travel.
If you do not have an EU digital COVID vaccination certificate:

You don’t need a test to leave the country (that would be a bats hit rule).

However; you might need a test before travelling to your destination. Remember when travelling, you’re looking at entry requirements. And destinations have their own rules

    See! Different opinions all round.
It would appear Slightly Balding is correct re Canaries and Greece, Jet2 have a good step by step guide on their site. However, Portugal & Azores require both a neg test and proof of vax before entry, despite all being Amber/Green. So different rules for different countries despite being in same bands. A typical mess.

That’s just for green rated countries. That’s the only difference between green and amber. Been told by Jet2 that we need a negative test prior to flying out.

I don’t think you need a test to enter Portugal now

This information is for amber rated countries

Easy debate to solve, just go on the government website and read up
