Good read. I like the guy. I didn't realise they got hate mail and that's disappointing. We really would be up the creek without them. I can't understand why the problems can't be ironed out because they might be venture capitalists but you can't make money without improvements and taking the club forward in the process.
Other than the section about ground sharing(which I didn't quite get) that seems a fairly clear statement.
Agreed. I'm not sure why the hate mail. So far, they are doing things the right way in trying to build the club. It can only get better, and as they said from the outset. They aren't going to go crazy. Which is something this BBS was dead set against anyway. They get my vote as it stands.
That's quite a 'heart on the sleeve' communication so I think he deserves credit for that, whether you agree with him or not. Not sure who has put the 'block' on the owners being able to buy the ground(s) - whether it is the Council, the Crynes or some other party. But whoever it is 'Thank you'.
My sentiments too mate. They're certainly holding the club back whoever they are. We've a group willing to invest large sums of money to take the club forward. The "product" is improving on the pitch but it's being hamstrung by a mystery oddity.
Really good interview and very clear. I hope Barnsley Council will be pragmatic and work with the club on making renovations and improvements and sharing the costs. I think the issue over insurance and title,is to do with this 3rd Party claim on land ownership, who sold them this claim? Anyway, I have enjoyed what the ownership group say, when they communicate with us. I don't and didn't agree with them, not paying fully for ownership of the football club. I think this issue has been settled now??? On the Andy Giddings interview I heard,I totally agreed with the Board ,when they accuse other clubs of cheating, call it what it actually is. Governance of football in England is not fit for purpose. I hope this latest interview ,clarifies for supporters what is happening and debunks the myths and conspiracies. Interesting that we were trying to recruit from EPL clubs, that's new. Also, the multi national board of Barnsley FC, taking on the might of the Conservative Home Secretary, Come on, let's have it. Are Luton or Peterborough, the other well run club? he mentioned.
Me too, also not sure why they can't get insurance, if it's to do with the covenant you'd just get an indemnity.
The insurance is against the possibility of a third party seeking to enforce a restrictive covenant. That could have an effect on the financial value of the land and they presumably need to insure against that potential loss. If it's a very old R/C that shouldn't be a problem, but clearly Conway feels it is.
Something's not right. Why would anyone buy a Football Club and land and sell off rights to what is done with the land? Were they scared they might get a sudden hankering to build houses or shop at Tesco? It has to have been sold off just prior to the sale. Doesn't make sense?
Maybe getting this wrong but I get the impression that the Co-Chairman doesn't see the Clubs long-term future at Oakwell ???
Unless things can be sorted. I think there's a bit of posturing taking place to be honest. However, I've no reason to think it will go that far. Someone usually buckles in these situations. I can see them getting the ground cheaper nearer the lease being up.
