Need a good final session here as the pitch has flattened and the ball isn't moving about much. This could turn into a real slog if India get to the close without losing any more wickets.
Surprised with that Hawkeye. Looked out but too close to loose you're wicket. Surely technology isn't that good. Makes up for being a bit late with the previous review.
I'm never 100% on Hawkeye. The one India reviewed earlier looked way more out than this one and was missing leg stump according to the technology
Great batting from him. I was wanting a minimum of 3 wickets today, but if we don't get them out in the next 2 days then India will deserve the draw.
If we don't bowl them out tomorrow, they'll be setting us a serious target. Hopefully Anderson can do a bit better with the new ball first thing. His lack of 2nd innings wickets is a bit of a concern.
Test match cricket is a great game. Some think boring. You could be right. The three seamers bowled well early on, Indians batted well and got lucky with the timing of two reviews. There's a game on now. Question. If the roles/ scores were reversed, what chance of an England win from here?
That would leave us wanting about 140 wouldn't it? Which we didn't manage at Lords. We'd have another new ball sat evening. A good spell in the morning will be crucial. Is Jimmy Anderson fit? Curran has got involved yet. Robinson and Overton look good. If set England 150 they'll have done fantastically well. Great finish in prospect.
I would give England a slim chance of winning. I’d be a lot more confident if we had a more composed captain, biggest danger to England is their own temperament. India will know another 2 or 3 partnerships could see England lose their heads like they did at Lords.
If that's an answer to the question, then so would I. That's with Root, arguably the world's best batsman at the crease. A good morning for England and it can be won today.
If it's flat enough for them to get 500 then it'll be flat to the end of day 5 and even England will struggle to throw away their wickets. If Ashwin was playing things would look very different. But we also probably would have scored at least 100 less in the 1st innings if he was.
Yes, meant I’d give England a slim chance if roles were reversed. As it is, they just need to avoid losing their heads like they did in the last test.
Headingley pitch seems a bizarre thing, in that it ages like Benjamin Button, meaning it’s impossible to feel confident defending any sort of total.
