Lewin Nyatanga was okay when he returned to Oakwell, unlike Lloyd Isgrove who was a bit of a disaster when he came back
Other than Adam can’t think of any that were a success. Think these two will be fine though. Lukaku was a kid when he left and has gone back a world class centre forward. Don’t think people will expect Ronaldo to be the flying winger he was before but he’ll score tons of goals.
Agree. Even a diminished Ronnie was better than anyone else in his position at the club. He should have had a job for life at Oakwell after he came back from Portugal but was allowed to leave after playing only seven more games for the Reds. He did come back a third time, in 2003, as a coach under Gudjon Thordarson but that was short-lived as well. Imagine the knowledge that he could have passed on to generations of young players. Such a waste, or maybe Ronnie just chose not to pursue a coaching career?
For me, it's hardly a law of physics. If a Head Coach decides he wants to bring in a player who has previously played for us, then fair enough. In our case, we've had the likes of Barrowclough, Nardiello & Hammill that have worked out very well. Whilst others, such as Banks & Currie haven't. I'd be over the moon to see us re-sign John Stones, less so with Emmanuel Frimpong.
David Currie signed here twice, banged em in both times.. (Better check with biglil if I'm talking rubbish again)
Ronnie did loads of coaching in the local area, was privileged to have been coached by him learnt a lot that was passed onto my juniors Great Guy simples
