    I thought Reading’s restriction was that they could only offer something like 8k/week, which isn’t much of an embargo. But that’ll be what they’re paying towards drinkwater’s wages, and not sure it’d be worth the gamble for us.

    If Reading actually had any fans, I’d feel sorry for them. There’s no way out of the financial mire for them. Or the majority at this level. Unless you get promoted. And the level of competition in this division weakens every year. Don’t let our exploits last season fool you. We were the financial anomaly in that top six.

    The parachute clubs have a huge advantage.

    I adore Valèrien and wish him and the others who jumped ship with him all the very best. But I found it laughable the other night seeing him and Murray charging down the touchline as his expensively assembled and obscenely overpaid squad scrape a last minute winner against a club in Peterborough, who like us, try and operate within an affordable budget. And then sticking two fingers up at his opposite number. Clubs like that are sticking two fingers up at the rest of us, aided by an inept EFL.

    The amount of grief we got for our style of football and now it’s the greatest tactic ever seen, because West Brom are at it. **** em.

    I’m not in the best mood today. :D
