    He's 21! If he's good enough, he should have played more misters football than 20 games in the Dutch second division by now.

    “Combative holding midfielder...”

    Claudio Gomes joined City in July 2018.

    The 18-year-old French defensive midfielder was previously with Paris Saint Germain, making five appearances for the Ligue 1 champions’ Under-23 side in the UEFA Youth League.

    The highly-rated teenager, who turned 18 on Monday 23 July, has also represented France at various youth levels and is the current captain of Les Bleus’ Under-18s team.

    Gomes is quick, strong and an excellent tackler with great vision and energy.

    He made his first-team bow in a friendly against Liverpool in New Jersey, July 2018.

    Claudio spent the 2019/20 season on loan at PSV Eindhoven

    I'm all for these type of signings but do they really need to be done on the 11th hour at the end of the transfer window? Why couldn't we have him in place at the start of the season on a season long loan.

    Could have gone balls out on a left wing back then

    I often think about that - and its not just us, it's almost everyone. You flick SSN on and it's always someone "is in the market for a forward". Well here's an idea, get one sorted for the start of the season.

    I can kind of understand it if its a permanent transfer, trying to get the best price and seeing who blinks first etc, but a youngster on loan?? Unless this guy genuinely is the next Claude makelele and has been in high demand all over Europe I don't know what would take so long.
