Brian MaCourt & Chris Lumsdon stand out for me, they were both great when we had them on loan however after they were bought & under contract they went down hill big time . I could possibly add Kevin Betsy to that list as he followed suit
I'm like that with hassell. I'll concede he used to try hard though and he wasn't the worst but so overrated in my opinion.
I thought Mowatt was finished after his first few months with us. But he went away to Oxford and came back a new player.
Has to be Mido. I remember going to watch his first game for us, a friendly away at Alfreton Town. I had to phone my mate to explain how overweight he was, straight off a poster for Fit Reds. The Alfreton Town fans were laughing themselves stupid.
Morris for sure from the present team but going back to the start of 96, Unknowns of Marcelle and Bosancic, the aging Hendrie and Wilko. I think most signings in the summer of 96 would have been a bit meh as they were unknowns from abroad (was van de velden signed in the summer?)but they were pretty much all awesome that season.
I think we differentiate players that we simply didn’t know anything about, from those that we were convinced would be a failure.
George Moncur. I was very excited when we signed him. Bitterly disappointed with the way he forced a loan move a few games into the season. Even more disappointed the following season when he didn't show any of the promise I anticipated. His gloating when Luton were promoted ahead of us irked me, because of how he played whilst with us. Had he been good, I could have stood by and said fair play. But to be so underwhelming, and then gloat. That was frustrating.
Callum Brittain. Thought if MK Dons weren't that bothered then he would probably be meh. Been fantastic from day 1.
Playing for Mansfield Town now.His previous club was Hartlepool where he scored 17 in 39 games.Part of there promotion team back to the EFL.
All those players who had glittering careers before joining us as they were on their way down. Just shows that experience doesn't always work. Geoff Thomas Kevin Richardson Kevin Gallen Mido Spring to mind. Probably a few more
