I see ManUre have found a convoluted way to bend yet another rule. Dan James has been sold to Leeds which leaves the number 21 vacant. This just happens to be the number Cavani wanted to wear all along and apparently that's why he has been allowed to change numbers. Lo and behold, the number 7 is now free to be awarded to the Ego on Legs who's officially Registered Trademark just happens to be CR7!
To be fair, his brand CR7 is worth many millions. He was never gonna just give that up. No one would. Reality is it would have been in contract. I very much doubt it will have been an afterthought that they had to influence PL on.
Wouldn't want Ronaldo playing in the Premier League in any other number. Glad they managed to resolve it and keep a real pro like Cavani happy at the same time.
Good move for him but at least he got to play for Manu a bit when he moved initially. I felt sorry for him on that Leeds documentary where he was all ready to sign and it didn't happen.
I'm surprised anyone gives a ****. Especially supporters of another club. He could wear 666 on his back for all I care.
Guilty as charged, but why anyone - other than kids - would want to spend money on another club's shirt, to promote another club's player, is beyond me. I can't get my head round it at all. If Ronaldo had signed for Wednesday, would you buy the shirt?
What a player, perhaps the greatest of our time. And a model pro to boot, still going at 36 in arguably the best league in the world. I think he deserves to retain the number 7 shirt lol
Yeah, great guy, cutting a deal with the authorities so he doesn't do time for tax evasion. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-46957605
Maybe it was an innocent error of judgment, maybe it wasn't. Maybe he needs a new accountant. He paid up presumably to avoid a court case rumbling on and because he can afford it. If he intentionally avoided paying tax then obviously that's wrong. But some people wait with baited breath to stick the knife in to people like Ronaldo. He is an incredible footballer, take nothing away.
Not the best role model as a human being but in football terms he is. Work hard, expect to achieve, work on your weaknesses look after yourself that's not a bad message for young lads wanting a career in football.
Sounds like a good deal for absolutely everyone involved. Ronaldo gets his number, Cavani gets his number, James gets a chance to be a main man at PL club, Leeds get a very good player fairly cheap, and Man U balance their squad and get some money in to fund the Ronaldo deal.
