How long would your "covid passport" last?

If you want a social life time to get your jabs if you haven't already. Oakwell struggles with long slow queues for catering so it's going to be crazy trying to get in approx 14,000 people every game showing photo ID proof and the stewards having to make sure the person in the photo is the person showing the photo ID and the name matches the name on the NHS covid app or the NHS letter you can send for.

What happens to those who dont have a photoID must be quite a few in the West Stand who no longer have driving licences or valid passports
Makes it tricky to lend your ST to someone if you arent going to the game as well

Any word on requiring a 3rd jab to still be considered "vaccinated" in UK?

Israel just changed their definition to <3 jabs means you are not officially vaccinated , and the US is apparrently discussing the same?

The vaccines only give 6-9 mnths protection

Except that as the Mail's report makes clear, ministers have yet to discuss these proposals. I would think it is highly likely that Tory backbench opposition will kill off this idea - certainly in regard to things like football matches. Labour has previously been opposed to vaccine passports.

In passing, I note that 'Politics For All' is apparently run by a Tory brexiteer, while the Daily Blackshirt's reputation is already known to us all!

Unusual I know but Italy appears to be 'on the ball' with the technology. The rules here a quite draconian regarding the EU Covid passport. Teachers medical staff etc suspended without pay if they refuse the vaccine and you must have had at least one jab to get the Covid passport.
Using Public transport access to bars and restaurants means you must show your passport and have it validated. However this is simple and very fast. Last night we went to one of our favourite restaurants. As soon as we were greeted we had our EU Covid passports in hand and they have an OR code which he scanned with his phone camera app which instantly showed our details - name date of vaccinations (we have had both, type of vaccine etc). It took overall less than 10 seconds to ID both of us. I am sure if the UK passport uses a similar system setting up a camera so the fans can point the OR code at it at the turnstiles with a monitor connected to the app visible to the turnstyle operator and fan (to align the OR code in the app) . Incidentally, anti-vaxers organised mass protests in major stations about the enforced ID for travel In one or two cities numbers were in the tens and nowhere else attracted more than a handful of protesters. Police and meida outnumbered them and there was no disruption to travellers. By and large, the overwhelming majority of people have bought into it.

Interestingly only a very small of the 6000 odd new cases that tested positive yesterday here were symptomatic. Deaths are falling and importantly in most regions numbers of people needing ICU or even hospitalisation is low and falling. A recent report stated most cases of hospitalisations are for people with symptoms akin to severe influenza. Almost all deaths are the elderly, people with pre existing conditions or both and most importantly a very high proportion (almost all!) are unvaccinated . About time the media/ and certain Govts' fixation with numbers of new positive cases is put into context. over 71% of Italy's population has now had both jabs.

The Italian Govt has already changed the criteria for assessing regions white yellow orange and red to take more than tests showing positive into account . Our region in the EMU classification is , bizarrely, 'RED' but Italy shows us as White. Vaccinations work folks!

Interesting post @Tekkytyke and we do need to start concentrating the reporting on the low numbers of deaths and serious illnesses for double vaccinated people. But why do you keep calling QR codes OR codes?

This "freedom of choice" balony is like the argument that smokers make. I wonder how many of those arguing " I have a right to choose what goes into my body are smokers, or take recreational drugs bought from dodgy sources, or eat junk convenience processed foods.
I counter argue I have a right to breath smoke free air whilst working. I spent years as a musician working in smoke filled clubs and nightclubs. Sometime it was so bad we didn't need to use our haze machine for the lighting rig as the beams showed clearly through the smoke. My clothes hair instruments and equipment used to reek when we got home as did the place where we used to store it all. The keyboards needed regular cleaning as an oily film builds up on the keys and panels from the cigarettes smoke.
Whilst you get used to it, sometimes I had a sore throat from breathing in second hand smoke especially as you breath deeper when you sing.
I was once a heavy smoker myself but managed to give up when my daughter was born (she is now 24 years old)
Freedom of choice and human rights are fine unless the decisions they make endanger/put others at risk. You can drink/take drugs but no one can argue that you are not endangering others if you drive whilst under the influence. By failing to vaccinate you are increasing the numbers of viable hosts and therefore increasing the risk of the current strains mutating into something more deadly.
Personal choice and human rights both come, or at least should come, with RESPONSIBILITY!

Got bugger all sleep last night... ate too much at the restaurant and drank too much before going to bed . Besides I am a daft old bugger and typed O instead of Q in spite of them being at the opposite ends of the row ;)

If anyone doesn’t think this is terrifying then fair enough, we’ll agree to disagree.

This is a digital ID. If you’re happy to trust everything to the people in Government, then fair enough I understand why you’re ok with it. There’s not a cigarette paper between this and social credit scoring, and further down the line total state control of behaviour, activity and purchases.

Pardon my ignorance but don't the EU covid passport not have your photo in it like the covid passport over here? So how did the restaurant you went to know the details you showed them belonged to you and wasn't borrowed off someone else? Without people showing photo ID alongside their vaccine status so the venue you visit can see the person showing the vaccine status matches the photo ID person how can they be sure it belongs to you? It wouldn't be hard for someone unvaccinated to get in to a venue over here using the NHS letter of someone else if places don't ask for photo ID with it.

In my experience, in my minuscule circle of people, I’d say it’s close to 100% of people opposite to what you’ve described.

Super healthy, super conscious, and living really balanced lives with far more knowledge about the sources of products than many people on here and in this country.

That’s actually nuts. I bet they get a lot of on the toilet pictures.

Edit: having reread it and seen the last line again, is the app only for those who have tested positive and having to quarantine, not the whole population? Other than needing a phone and having to have it by your side at all times, it’s not too different to the checking up phone calls they do (although I really hate facial recognition software so I’d definitely still be against it).

Labour and starter was previously in favor of having to be double jabbed to get in nightclubs and large events. Not sure if there stance has changed.

The EU Covid passports have a QR code. However, Italy is one of many EU countries where you have an ID card which you should carry as well as driving licence both of which have your photo. The QR code scanner displays name and other details such as dates and type of vaccine administered and where tax code and Health service number but not a photo. If suspicious an ID card can be requested but since we are English and there are not many of us around here it is unlikely we would have a fraudulent (borrowed!) green pass. Besides, all the places we have been so far we are known. EU residents are not quite as paranoid about ID cards as many people seem to be in the UK

Say what you want. We called people lunatics for saying about...

    More lockdowns
    Vaccination passports
    Vaccination Id for nightclubs
    Top up vaccinations
Now vaccination for young teenagers pending....

    Something smells fishy.
