Good question. I’ve not really asked that but I think it’s just one discussed within the field of medicine. There haven’t been studies but there’s plenty of discussion around it from professionals. Does it really/actually work? Possibly but I’m doubtful. Is there any harm in trying it when you expand your knowledge to understand there’s a human version and the mass headlines about it just being for animals is false? I don’t think so. Especially when you consider is anything being subscribed when people get Covid?
My only worry would be whether it had actually been established that the worst case outcome was simply that it didn't work. In that case I don't have any issue with people trying it. My worry would be if there was any chance of adverse interaction with covid (or any other medication which might be prescribed)
Fair. But isn’t that some of the concerns shared by those no wanting to have the vaccine? Not wanting or worrying about some of the adverse reactions that have been reported?
Exactly, and that's why it's weird that some people who don't want the vaccine will happily take ivermectin. FWIW I think people should be free to make their own decision re: the vaccine, but there has been much greater study of the vaccine than use of invermectin as a covid treatment at this point.
But I don’t think there can be any negative side affects from taking Invermectin. The human version anyway. It’s just a drug used to kill bacteria and parasites in the body. Pretty much agree with you by the way. Definitely on the same page.
There’s loads of human medicines that cause side effects. Including ivermectin. https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/ivermectin-oral-tablet#side-effects
It’s absolute madness isn’t it? This whole pandemic has really shown up the best and worse in humanity and human nature.
Not heard that podcast as yet. I've a lot of time for Rogan. I don't agree with him all the time, but like his open minded approach & the wide range of people he talks to & the fact he sees beyond party political rhetoric. He's the sort of guy that will go public on something like this & with his level of influence I have to question if that is the right thing to do, as he has a massive following, both in the USA & globally. That is who he is though.
I don’t listen to his podcast but hear snippets all the time. I like his approach to most discussion points because he judges every topic in isolation and normally argues for both sides of a debate or plays devil’s advocate. He can praise someone one one topic but be critical on something else, which is refreshing in my opinion. The one with the doctor was way before he caught Covid so he’s already been pretty open about it. I know we’re conducting trials on Invermectin in the UK right now.
Agreed on Rogan. I have listened to more of the old ones on Youtube, than the new stuff on Spotify. I can't think of many people that present debate as well as he does. In a time of massive censorship / political bias / division on both sides of the channel he's largely a positive voice. I like the way he sees Biden as little better than Trump, as the two parties in the USA are both nearly as bad as each other in some respects. Biden's withdrawl from Afghanistan has been terrible, as has been our government's approach.
The reason being is that the government has banned doctors from prescribing it. I'm not saying it is a COVID cure, but it also does no harm. Banning it has made the believers buy the animal version, which is the same drug in larger doses, therefore it becomes dangerous.
Another reason I have heard, although I have no proof whether it is true, or not. All current vaccinations are released under Emergency Use Only (EUO). EUO exemptions are only allowed if no other approved medications are available. Therefore, if the government supports these various prophylactic treatments, then the vaccines would not be allowed.
There is a video out there of a woman on US TV arguing with a doctor that has just told her ivermectin is not effective in fighting viruses. She explains to him that he's thinking of the single bodyweight dose when everyone knows you need the LD50 dose. For anyone who doesn't know that's a dose that's lethal 50% of the time in studies on mice. At first it might seem funny, but it's actually quite sinister. Someone is deliberately pushing that information to them. This is a another issue related to the concerns people are expressing about social media being used to push conspiracy theories. That is that people are deliberately infiltrating these sites and trying to encourage the people on the sites to do things that will cause serious harm to themselves.
He’s very balanced when it comes to politics and he really pushes his guests to explain things by offering an alternative opinion or challenging them on some of the truths out there that the mainstream media don’t report. As mentioned before, he’s happy to praise Trump (or any political leader) one minute and criticise them the next, so really judges everything from a fairly central position and in isolation. Some people give him a hard time and a bad rep. But it’s mainly because he shuts down certain theories and opinions from the left with facts and reason rather than emotion.
According to the CDC website, it is approved for people 16+. For 12-15 year olds and the third booster shot, it is still EUA (I mistakenly put EUO previously).
