I'm on the left of UK politics on most, nearly all things, although I am a business person, so make a profit, (sometimes) from other people's labour, but pay better & apply ethics to what I do. I like his approach. I don't need people to affirm my views. I like people that challenge them & question them. All we get in the UK is Farage & Piers Morgan. I don't see any clear libertarian thinking that still thinks of the country as a whole, rich & poor & tries to come up with solutions.

Boatloads of people in the US are taking the horse dewormer paste and telling others it's not the tablets they need but the the paste... Which is the horse dewormer not the human licensed drug. It's been all over Facebook, Twitter and various forums for months now. I work in the equestrian world and we've been monitoring it for some time... There's growing concerns of a shortage due to so many people eating it.

The media has actually taken far too long to pick up in this and report it.

This is in the press because people are taking the dewormer because doctors won't prescribe the tablets. They won't and can't do that because there is not anywhere near enough clinical evidence to show Ivermectin is effective in treating or preventing covid.

    https://www.cochranelibrary.com/cdsr/doi/10.1002/14651858.CD015017.pub2/full?cookiesEnabled

It's also worth noting that ivermectin us a potent insecticide which can easily be fatal if ingested in uncontrolled amounts... Which people are doing.

Forgive me for being a tad naive but after reading this thread and viewing one article about it I was just wondering why people in general can't think in a more sober way and apply a little bit of commonsense before they decide to use drugs like this...

    Oh, America (my bold):

'An Oklahoma doctor has said overdoses of the anti-parasitic drug ivermectin, which many believe without evidence can prevent or cure Covid-19, are helping cause delays and problems for rural hospitals and ambulance services struggling to cope with the resurgent pandemic.

Ivermectin is used to kill internal and external parasites in livestock animals and, in smaller doses, in humans.

“There’s a reason you have to have a doctor to get a prescription for this stuff, because it can be dangerous,” Dr Jason McElyea told KFOR, an Oklahoma TV station.

“The [emergency rooms] are so backed up that gunshot victims were having hard times getting to facilities where they can get definitive care and be treated.'

    Source: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/sep/04/oklahoma-doctor-ivermectin-covid-coronavirus

It's just the way they say gunshot victims without batting an eyelid.

My lol was 100% comedic. But if you want to go down that route, I think it was 1980...

GA is very curious, though I hugely enjoyed my visit. Atlanta and Athens are two of the most liberal, progressive cities you can imagine. Especially Athens, though this is unsurprising given its art and music history, and the fact that the University of Georgia is there. But they are surrounded by vast swathes of rural poverty, and everything that goes with it. Obviously there are a couple of exceptions - Savanna in the east, and Alpharetta looked pretty posh. The rural-urban divide is really stark, as it is in a lot of the Southern states. It's scarcely believable that the cities and the small towns are even in the same country, never mind 20 miles away from each other.

Suppose we can just disregard the 44 peer-reviewed Ivermectin studies with 39 positive results for treating COVID.

    https://ivmmeta.com/

Suppose it doesn't fit the narrative though. Much like how the JCVI won't recommend vaccinating kids but they'll do it anyway. Got to fit the narrative.

These won't be based on people buying the variety made for livestock and administered in seriously high dosages.

If a doctor has proscribed it, as in the case of Rogan, he will have looked at his medical records & potential side effects, that is clearly not happening with most of the fools who are ending up in hospital.

The vaccination of kids is a difficult argument with several facets & it is a decision that I'll leave to the medical profession TBH. There are arguments for and against. I'm against anyone being forced to take a vaccine that is for sure.

Isnt that why the Govt hasnt gone rogue though , coz folk are armed to the teeth?

Louis Theroux did one of weird weekends with one of the patriotic groups , and they were totally convinced a UN army "blue hats" were lining up to take over the US , and they were ready to stop them.

Yes, I think so. As I said I think he was irresponsible publicising it, but that's him. Hope he's reading the news stories about the people being hospitalised.

There is a lot of questions still being asked about this and many other studies. Many of the studies are not in fact peer reviewed but pre-prints and most of those that are, are condoning controlled small IV doses having minor benefits in very specific situations .

But I guess that doesn't fit the narrative.

Google the title of the paper you linked and scroll down. Then tell me something dodgy isn't going on

Obviously this. Buying horse medicine and giving it yourself is mikes away from it being approved and it’s human variant being given to people by doctors.

As for kids. 12-15 they can make their own minds up. Give them the choice and information and let them decide.

The whole Joe Rogan thing really winds me up. Sky News ran a story about him saying that he suggested the young shouldn't get vaccinated. I'm pretty certain he's never said that. In fact, he's been pretty clear about what he said and he's clarified it many, many times. He said he was pro vaccine. He was going to get it with the UFC but for whatever reason he didn't get around to it. As for the young, he said that young, healthy people probably didn't need it so it's up to them. But now he's an anti-vax fruit loop. And his guests too. Like the two doctors who came on his show and suggested that Ivermectin, properly dosed and subscribed, has shown to have some effect with COVID. But pharma can't make money out of it, so it goes in the Trump/conspiracy theorist/tin foil hat/anti vax/ COVID denier box.

Personally, I don't trust big pharma. I don't trust this government. Since when did the government give a damn about your health?
