To snatch defeat from the jaws of victory at Lords and today at the Oval is beyond embarrassing. Hang your heads in shame ECB for the slow death of English test cricket for the sake of multiple and unnecessary quick cricket formats.
From 100-0 to 210 all out takes some doing. Think Root needs to step down as captain (not as a player) but who can lead this shower?
I disagree. What's the point in him stepping down when no one else in the side is showing any credentials as captain.
We have a very talented cricket team we have bowlers who can make a pitch look like a billiard table when they bowl on it and batsman who can make the same pitch look like minefield when they bat on it that's quite a talent
Not sure where we go from here. We just don’t have the batters to call on. We’ve fetched Pope back and although he got a duck second innings I think he is worth persevering with. Bairstow has all the ability in the world but will always be susceptible to the inswinging ball. Burns is inconsistent and his poor technique will always make that the case. Malan was victim of a mindless run out today and he has to stay too. We’re a class spinner short too. Says it all when we’ve brought back Moeen and made him vice captain!
Root is a great batsman probably the best in the world at the moment but sadly he's a poor Captain great when things are going England's way but tactically clueless when the chips are down and England are struggling.
mebbe , mebbe not but there's no excuse for the way the batting collapses on a regular basis, Joe Root is basically the only 'proper' test batsman we have.
India are a very good test team, balanced good bowling, Bumrah is exceptional and a great batting side with a mixture of grit and dash. Give em credit it’s been a great series.
