I have just been reading a news item where Joey Barton says he is taking Luke Thomas out of the firing line for a little while, not because of health issues thankfully but fitness issues , he says he is going to organise a mini pre season fitness programme to try & bring him up to speed but says hopefully he will be back with the squad shortly but that does not mean he will walk back into the team. I find this rather odd being that Thomas played in the first 4 matches & surely if he had fitness problems then they would have shown before now, I just wonder why Barton has gone public with this ,it just doesn"t seem to add up right for me .
Barton's a cowardly bully who needs to put the blame for his failure on his players. Did they same at Fleetwood.
Most players hit roadblocks in their careers and most can get past them. A few though just don't seem to be able to due lifestyle choices, family issues or health/mental health problems. I hope he can get through this as football is a short career, but something tells me he's always going to struggle.
True. Laura's mum is upset with her new work rota because she finds it difficult to see to her horse and she won't see enough of George. Her boss told her "tough we couldn't give a toss about your commitments outside work". Clubs only sympathise for so long and get rid. Leigh Griffiths at Celtic springs to mind.
Always found this a strange one. We have a player who has suffered from mental health issues so let's send him to Joey Barton for a bit of nurturing within a caring environment. Bonkers.
I think there's a case for he's got mental health issues. Let's work through it with him here instead of farming him out on loan. I can't see how more upheaval can help. There's the adage "a change is as good as a rest" but the route causes remain the same. As harsh as it sounds the decision to off load him here was down to his footballing capabilities and our style of play.
According to Barton there is nothing wrong with him apart from his fitness levels so there is nothing for him to get better from & it is just a case of working hard on the training ground , fingers crossed he achieves this & gets back on the pitch a.s.a.p
We’ve no idea tbf. The lad wanted to go nearer home to help him have the support around him. We’ve allowed that. Barton hasn’t said anything other than about his fitness.
