Rumors circulating this morning that the government are planning an October "firebreak" lockdown of 2 weeks.
If lockdowns actually worked, then why the hell would we need another?

"If seatbelts actually worked, why do I need to wear it every time?"

In all seriousness though, I would obviously prefer that we didn't lock down again. If it's necessary then it's necessary, but if that is the case it's a result of a failure of government from the incompetent shitshow that have been elected. A 2 week proper lockdown done early is significantly better than a long drawn out one like we had before though.

Can't see how lock downs can work anymore when guidelines have changed regarding isolation.

Having just witnessed behaviours over the last 3-4 days while getting away for a short break, I can't see how any form of "lockdown"... or slightly increased restrictions would be adhered to from this point on.

Not really. Lockdowns work while they are in effect. Just like seatbelts. The main reason for locking down is to spread cases out either until there's a vaccine, which is the main reason we locked down previously, or until the NHS is more able to cope with demand which will be what makes a lockdown required in the future.

To be fair, for balance, they've denied it.

Which usually means it will happen like, but there you go.

The most dangerous thing was the road my missus had me drive down to get to the place!

Was in the most remote place yet. Not far from Skenfrith, but down very narrow tracks and overlooking forest and farmland with no sign of life other than the main property of those who run the cottage let. Incredibly quiet and peaceful.

We got away to a few national trust places and was going to try and wander by the river at Ross on Wye. NT places were fine and very few in the woodland areas, most tended to be at the cafes! Ross on Wye though was heaving, so we just drove straight through.

It’s now beyond reasonable doubt that SAGE plan lockdown dates based on my Ryanair outbound flights.

This, just taken the kids away for a long weekend and the amount of people with no respect for personal space is unreal! Most people just don't give a **** anymore!

The lockdown wouldn't work. They can shut again all the places we enjoy socialising but I cannot see people ever again agreeing to not see friends and family. If they shut pubs, cinema, restaurants and the rest, people quite rightly would still visit friends n family even if Boris says we cannot.

So how are we supposed to get out of the cycle? How do we get to a point where there is no need to lock down? Most of us are double jabbed now.
What was that famous quote from Einstein about insanity?

We again have the world’s highest number of daily cases. Truly world-beating.

They do work, unfortunately this schitshower of a government have been weeks late everytime and between lockdowns have allowed the virus to rage out of control. The kids are back at school with no ventilation measures in place and not wearing masks. COVID is running riot and the older and vulnerable are now coming to the point where the vaccines are becoming less effective so the kids will bring it home and infect their relatives. Instead of spending a pittance on aircon units for classrooms they gave billions of our money to their cronies like Dido Harding for eff all.

Does that help you see why another lockdown is coming?
