The different opinions are lovely Kev, old flower. That’s what it’s all about.x
My memory is very shallow. I tend to remember small nuances, rather than stats, etc. Mike Lester hiding the ball up back of his shirt, to delay a free kick. You’ll tell me opposition & result?
But remembering Adam’s last game in the first spell, away at West Ham. There With London Tykes. Can’t remember who was manager then, ? Hammill has been on fire but didn’t have a great game. Transfer to Wolves obviously complete.
Lost 1-0 to a near post corner header right in front of us.
At the time, Adam was being watched by England scouts. & will never forget Mark Noble hugging him at full time. That spoke louder than any words, especially mine.

The best players I have seen in my lifetime are English player, Bobby Charlton, Foreign player, Franz Beckenbauer, Barnsley player Ronny Glavin.
Other top players are George Best, Jimmy Johnson, Garrincha (the little bird), Pele, and Barnsley's 2nd best, in my opinion, Neil Redfearn.

Lovely, mate. Socrates was a lovely footballer. Doctor of medicine, civil rights campaigner & in a rock band. That’s why he’s my boy. :)

When I was younger. Mine were

    Andy Rammell
    John Beresford

Still look back and think the same.

Although modern day, I go no further than Adam H myself

Hammill and Hourihane for us in recent times. Matt Le Tissier for elsewhere, a very talented player who stayed loyal to his team when he could’ve chased the cash elsewhere. Respect.

Ronnie Glavin & Allan Clarke for me.

There could be a long list, a very long list, but for me these two turned our club from a 4th division outfit to a team that could draw against the European Champions & bring every kid in Barnsley along with them. Hunter's team was better, but the turn around was mesmerising under Clarke. Clarke was a class striker in the 70's. No disrespect to Woodrow, but Clarke was ten times the striker in his Leeds days, The fact he came to Oakwell for me is enough. He was clever to use Eric to help him too.
