Couldn’t agree more. Was just pointing out that the statement didn’t mean the state was running around shooting each other and backing up hospitals.
I like this article. Goes back and forth on both sides of the argument and reaches the fair conclusion that we simply just don’t know yet, but should by the end of the year. https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-021-02081-w We also need to debunk the myth that every person taking Invermectin is anti-vax. In a lot of cases they’re just not wanting to get sick and die. Taking the animal version is just gross incompetence, but I’m not going to look down in anyone taking the human version safely - of which that group far outweigh those drinking gallons of the stuff meant for horses.
I'm still puzzled as to why anyone wouldn't take a scientifically researched vaccine but would push their dr to prescribe a drug meant for getting rid of parasitic organisms.
My understanding is that story was a fake, concocted by Rolling Stone magazine where they then had to back track, despite many of the world’s media - including the Guardian - picking it up and reprinting it. www.rollingstone.com/politics/politics-news/gunshot-victims-horse-dewormer-ivermectin-oklahoma-hospitals-covid-1220608/amp/ The whole thing is utterly bizarre. Surely everyone in their right minds understands that it’s lunacy to take medication not designed for human consumption, so why the need for trusted media outlets to reprint fake stories that it would take literally one call to verify.
I mean technically they aren't taking it safely if they lied to get it, or were prescribed it for Covid treatment or prevention. It's simply not licensed for either treatment or prevention of covid. The cases where it has been used as a treatment (not preventative) with some success were through concentrated IV doses in combination with drugs designed to counter the toxic effects such doses would normally have. As an aside, if you're saying it's not just anti vaxxers taking it then who are you saying it is? Vaccinated people who have had the vaccine but feel they need something else to protect them? People who haven't been offered the vaccine despite states claiming to have offered it to all over 18s? The only place I've seen it peddled recently (human or animal) is in Qanon conspiracy circles and groups. Prior to that it had a similar push in the Bolsonaro supporters across South America last year. I do like that article and have read it before, but it does emphasise pretty clearly why this drug should not be being prescribed or taken for treatment or prevention of covid. I'll try and find a link to the paper that covered IV usage. Obviously we haven't even got into the dangers of Ivermectin resistance which is already a growing problem. Introducing much higher amounts into ecosystems is a recipe to worsen that problem. The repercussions for the meat, dairy and Equine industries could be absolutely devastating. I do agree that the media has not helped at all with giving so much focus on the animal wormer.
The Ivermectin users that were fighting against the vaccine by saying it isn't FDA approved or that it was authorized for emergency use only want to listen to the FDA for the vaccine, but don't want to listen to the FDA when they say you shouldn't take Ivermectin to treat or prevent COVID?
What you see online isn't reflective of what goes on in the real world. That's where half of the issues in society stem from. You can't take a few online forums labelled as 'conspiracy theorists' and then extrapolate that out to every single person behaving in that way. I've mentioned on here doctors who are prescribing Invermectin, because taken correctly in the right dosage you can argue it might not work but you can also argue what is the harm in trying? Millions of people every year take medication safely that isn't exactly designed to fight off the illness they have. What Americans see in terms of media, and try to ignore right/left on this one, is vastly different to what we see over here. Sometimes their headlines on Covid have been completely at odds with what we've been publishing on our news channels - from medical experts as well and not just those leaning to a particular persuasion. On the West Coast of the US especially, these people are fit, healthy, live a quite frankly ridiculous lifestyle compared to the likes of me and you, and don't want to be sick. Vaccine protection isn't guaranteed as we know, and they want to take something to fight off Covid when infected. It's quite laughable that if you get Covid you're essentially not prescribed anything.
The 3 states with the highest numbers of prescriptions of Ivermectin are Texas, Oklahoma and Georgia. Which are very Southern and not remotely west coast. https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s11606-021-06948-6
And? Doesn't mean there aren't people on the West Coast taking it. You asked what kind of people are they if they're not anti-vax. I provided you with an answer based on personal experiences and circles of people I know (one of which is a medical professional prescribing it!).
Fair enough. Ignoring the medical, morale and legal negligence involved in prescribing and unlicensed drug for a moment... Let's just acknowledge that it's effectiveness as a treatment for Covid is unproven but the pathogens that it is licensed for are becoming increasingly resistant to as usage increases. I refer you back to antibiotic resistance being accelerated, in a large part, because doctors were prescribing them for cold and flu despite them not being licensed for viruses. Which is why they don't prescribe anything for flu unless you're hospitalised. So perhaps it isn't that laughable that you don't get prescribed anything when you test positive and are only treated with drugs if you are hospitalised.
IMO the best way to avoid viruses is to go sit in a sauna most days for 3 x 15 minute sessions, with a cold plunge pool. It stopped me getting ill with any virus for 7 years. No virus can live at 95 degrees c.
