Have to disagree here. On the repeatedly bit. It’s been clear how his approach to games is different to Val and how he wants to approach the rotation of positions and freedom of movement. We’re not there yet obviously but if you can’t see what he’s been trying to do at times then I’m not sure what else to say. We’ve definitely been hampered by not having anywhere near our best players available yet to implement said game plan.
Because the best ones probably wouldn’t come to us? And if you asked me to name you a manager from a lower league club that I’d want, and be confident about, I’d honestly have to pass. You’re completely ruling out match fitness by the way. We’re having to play players that are weeks behind the opposition on that front. There’s definitely an argument to be bad on why we let that happen, but any sane Barnsley fan knew that a true reflection of where we’re at under Schopp wasn’t going to come until the October/November games. Then claims of being a ‘disaster’ might be valid.
“Barnsley have given it away again on the edge of the area…” . This quote from the commentator pretty much sums up our new style…
We are Barnsley, not Man City, the tactics we used & that were successful last season is the way to go for a club like us, underdogs in every game pretty much. Trying to “out football” teams in this league just isn’t going to work.
We're going to be in trouble with this lot.. not strong or good enough.. our mid field is as weak as pi55..
Yay…. I had 3-0 to Bornmuff in the score prediction thread. Fair play too, it was a great goal by the young lad…. Like a knife through butter that.
Men against boys. It really is just like the late Stendel/Struber era. Bottom 3 tackle. First teamers missing today or not. We had a great season and again rather than building on it, the owners have tried to start again. I know there's a massive cash difference between us and Bournemouth, but the gulf didn't seem so much under Val. This season we have 4 CMs at the club that have less than 60 or so appearances in this league combined, and it really shows. The average age of the squad must be 22? "All money generated from transfers will be reinvested in the team"
I can honestly say that so far I haven't been able to see what he's trying to do. In fact other than seeing that he likes the struber tactic of passing it 2 yards from keeper to defender I genuinely haven't got a clue what he likes. I'm not trying to be argumentative or anything either I just genuinely haven't got a clue. That in itself isn't necessarily a criticism, there have been plenty of successful managers and tactics over the years that I haven't understood
Because the players we have aren't good enough to play that way they weren't season before last and that's why the last manager stopped them trying to play that way.
Well done Schopp you've ripped up the blueprint from last season and turned us back into a side that's soft as ****. My goodness this is painful.
