He has, but he’s still our main man and goal threat up front. I’m honestly not expecting too much from the new signings.
I think we need to rely on the new players to bring the quality into our team. We seem, at best average and potentially a team thats in and around the relegation zone when we have a weakened team.We haven't seen 2-3 game runs with all players available or at least all key players available. So given that we need these players fit and available for selection is one issue. The second is the settling in and adjusting. It's fair to say that we will have to be patient for a while until players settle and we get everyone back from bans and fitness. In the meantime, the number of 'self inflicted' incidents must stop.
Back to being the championship nice guys. Well they try to play nice And get our asses served up on a plate. This is utterly gash
Lets not jump with over the top kneejerk reactions, we lost at Bournemouth. Schopp got it wrong its when he gets it wrong week after week we can start shouting. Not at that stage yet.
One of the most one-sided games I've ever seen. I accept they have a massive financial advantage, but still. Men against little boys, unfortunately.
Didn’t Bournemouth put six past us last season? We needed to score three times to beat them in the corresponding fixture.
If I absolutely had to pick one, I’d go along with that. Kept the score down with a couple of fine saves today.
That's honestly as bad a performance as I can remember seeing from us. Not sure whether it's got anything to do with Schopp as yet, but it's probably not a good sign when individual performances are as poor as that. Still, happy to stay optimistic for now and see where we are after a few more games!
Yes he’s wanted us to pass it about from the back more, yes there is visible change from VI. Of course. But that doesn’t actually show what he’s trying to achieve tactically - the rotation and freedom of movement you assume could just as easily be interpreted as lack of positional discipline and not knowing what your job is as a young player. These lads need coaching and to be told what to do. They’re barely out of puberty, some of themS they need help. They aren’t good enough, even with a full squad, to pass their way around teams. Trying to do it with those that are missing is at best over- optimistic, though more realistically, needlessly stubborn and downright bloody stupid. Best season in two decades? Tear it up and start again, don’t press and start playing out from the back again, like when we were nearly relegated not so long ago. We were decent at Cardiff and had a good half against qpr and threw it away. We beat Coventry, undeservedly, which puts a tiny bit of sheen on an otherwise tepid to luke warm start to the season; and we appear to be going backwards if anything. There has been no improvement - from any individual or collectively - at all. I honestly can’t see any chink of light in the performances so far - maybe Benson and the fact Iseka has laiked today. Sibbick has looked awful, Helik not the mammoth of last season, the two Callum’s at full back in no kind of form - and let’s not start on the “forwards”. Pessimistic? Maybe. But we’ve looked bloody awful, for nearly all of the games home and away, with limited exception.
Whilst I agree with everything you posted, and I applaud your optimism, it was still an atrocious display all over the pitch.
The tactic of dropping to the keeper for the ball is only seen as a Struber tactic because he enforced it so rigidly on us. It’s used by plenty of other teams and up until today it hasn’t caused us any issues. Even led to the goal against Birmingham. I can see that he prefers to play out from the back but doesn’t insist on it. There’s flex there. He also likes the central midfielders to be fairly compact, sometimes dropping close to the defenders. This, combined with the wing backs not being as so far advanced, allows Kitching and Sibbick to push on if there’s an opportunity. It’s the reason Sibbick got the goal on the opening day and the reason he was so far forward against QPR for that last minute chance. We try and play neat football, and in almost all games have had spells where we’ve looked pleasing on the eye but suffering from a criminal lack of options up front. Playing without Morris, Iseka, Oulare would hurt all the teams in our league - because as much as I don’t know how good the Belgians are we haven’t signed them to not make a difference eventually. The press and the triggers are still clear. As much as they were with Val in charge, arguably even more so. We’ve got a clear and defined shape and strategy for when the opposition have the ball. It’s way too early for meltdowns. Our October and November games will tell us far, far more than the last six weeks. Our match day squad at times is one that wouldn’t get out of League One. That’s how vast the limitations have been on player selection.
