No need for anybody to give Konta any salt because she's got enough of it. Every other current or former British female Tennis player doing lovely tweets like they watched the match and are genuinely happy for her. Konta's looks like her agent signed in to her account to post that generic one. Hope they get drawn against one another in a tournament. https://twitter.com/annekeothavong/status/1436817200250343431 https://twitter.com/NaomiBroady/status/1436815425036242945
Yeah but to be fair they are reporting to the 52% of the population that wanted this result and not the small % that didn't know the other was even possible a few weeks ago. ;-)
What bit of Huge Congratulations and applause emojis is the code for I’m jealous and wish you hadn’t won? I’m genuinely baffled
This thread has gone weird. I know nothing about tennis. I watched the match. Two young girls who went beyond what they or anyone else could have expected. There was a winner and a loser because that's the way it works. Well done to both of them. Perhaps they achieved what they did because they enjoy what they do. Meanwhile social media - the circus of the damned - dissects and interprets their every move like the poor diseased animal it really is.
Currently a set down in Romania on Amazon Prime if anyone wants to watch. She won't be wanting to lose two matches out of two since winning the US Open.
Hopefully she comes back stronger. In hindsight, sacking her coach and going out on the **** for three weeks after the US Open wasn’t the ideal preparation for the rest of the season.
Was disappointed to see she/her ‘team’ sacked her coach after she won the US Open. Seemed a little harsh to me and the kind of thing that can often lead to a decline in fortunes. Hope I’m wrong but can’t help thinking if it ain’t broke it don’t need fixing.
Thing is, she's a Naturalised Brit, her mum is Chinese and her dad is Romanian and she was born in Canada.
I would agree with that. I don't blame her enjoying her US Open victory but sacking her coach seems silly. She probably didn't need as many engagements between New York and defeat in her first match back at Indian Wells.
