I would go with that line up, playing odour in a front 3 is one of the strangest decisions from a head coach since hecky played thiam as a lone striker.
I wasn't expecting us to challenge again this season to be honest unless one of the new strikers proved to be Dike quality and Mowatt was replaced in house or by Benson. I'd say Helik is odds on to leave in January or the summer. I've no problem with that if we get a decent fee, it's how we survive at this level. I'd be very pleased with top ten once the dust settles.
Who knows for sure what kind f season he’s going to have, all I’m saying is that he hasn’t featured enough to warrant writing him off at this juncture.
The main problem is he doesn't know what to do with Styles and Oduor. Odour isn't a left back. He isn't a striker but he does offer something to the team in terms of skill. I thought he looked good against QPR because Freiser fell out to the left and Oduor found himself bursting through the middle at times threading up play. I think Schopp is scared of dropping a central midfielder. I would be tempted to give Oduor his chance in central midfield alongside Palmer with Styles on the left if need be. Basically I don't think our options are as limited as results are suggesting.
The idea of Odour playing in a midfield 2 doesn't appeal too much. He's a 10, if we're playing 3-4-3, then the front 3 is the best place for him. We could go 3-4-1-2 and drop him into an actual 10 role, but I think Woodrow will end up doing that, behind 2 from Iseka/Oulare/Morris/Frieser.
I said on a previous post some time ago, that I don't believe in rushing players back from injury, or throwing new players in at the deep end. However, after seeing Schopp's tactics and listening to his talks, he seems overly cautious, especially at a time when we are threadbare. I have no problem with him trying something new with Oduor upfront, but when it is not working, isn't it time to try something new, before it's too late?
As someone posted above, Kane Hemmings has a better goal scoring record in Scotland! Not only have we brought Cole back, we've given him a 3 year deal! This has disaster written all over it!
