Great point today. To go to a team who could have gone top tonight without... Benson Anderson Kitchen Morris Oullare Williams ...is a great achievement. So far, we have played the teams currently lying in... 3rd 4th 5th 7th 9th 10th 13th ...and still come away with a point a game. Once we've let the players gel a little, get a few injured players back, understand the managers style more and get a settled starting 11, I think we are going to be fine this year. Last year was a slow burn...you never know!
And next we have the team in 8th. We do seem to have a slightly trickier than average start to the season.
And if they beat us we've been beaten by the team in 5th blah blah blah, league tables don't mean anything yet.
Soon we'll have played a team in 16th etc. I can understand the reasoning but I find it stupid taking the attitude a defeats o.k today they're above us in table.
Blackburn were a basket case club pre season didn't make a signing skint and sold there best player. I keep hearing excuses, but we never beat Luton, bournmouth have millions, stoke are in good form etc league tables mean nothing this early. Its time to stop the excuses improve the performances and get some points blackburn should be seen as a winnable game.
Forest are in free fall and should be worried but win a few games in a row and it will quickly change their league position.
Your even using the fact we played Cardiff and they were 3rd on the opening day just down to the fact there name begins with the letter C. Nothing to do with football come on tables don't mean anything at minute.
It’ll mean a lot to the fans though, and probably Houghton who will be lucky to survive. All joking aside, the table can and will change
I thought Houghton would have done a good job there but like you say it looks like he won't last much longer.
I thought the mantra was... No point looking at the table until a least ten games in.. except when it suits our point.. The league table will ebb and flow as always
I don't think it's so much the general attitude to defeats, more the draws. In isolation, I'd have taken a draw before each of the Cardiff, QPR, Birmingham and Stoke games. But we do need to start winning.
We always used to finish mid-table in the old League 2. I'd be happy with that - keeping clear of the relegation battle and having a tilt at the play-offs now and then. Next 4/5 games will be a good barometer. We're miles off the top three teams this year, but so are most clubs.
Those are the positions they are in now after 7 games, meaning we haven't played any of the "out of form" teams yet and still took a decent points tally.
If we'd have won all our games we'd be top. If we'd lost them all we'd be bottom. Funny old game......
I'll be disappointed if we don't go all out to win Satdi, we should have the confidence after the Stoke performance. The look of concentration on Woodrow face , I reckon he's got more in his pocket when it comes to free kicks.
