The 12 is automatic and non negotiable as I understand it. I suspect the 9 may be either waived or applied next season.
I reckon they have 9 coming to em so then thought it is a good opportunity now to ditch debts take the 12 additional now rather than inevitably later. While it seems big and will relegate em it clears any history and allows em to restart. Assuming that is they get an owner.
The 12 is nailed on. Absolutely no wiggle room. Not entirely sure on what grounds the 9 could be waived though, unless they would have gone down anyway, in which case they could be applied next season. Imagine if the 9 were waived, and then someone went down instead of Derby because of that. It would be straight to court, and rightly so.
It really is. Derby only stayed up last season over Wycombe because they broke the rules. In any fair world they would have gone down instead and now be looking at a further 12 points in League 1 this season Absolutely no way should they now not get a 21 point deduction this season which would almost certainly relegate them. Though didn’t Robins get Rotherham to survive a similar deduction a decade or so ago. 17 points IIRC
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/58604851 EDIT: Forget it, I thought it said they had gone into administration.
Whilst it’s been coming for over two years, I have sympathy for the good and proper folk at the club who’ll now be worrying about their jobs.
Nowt to do with them , they should never have complained in the first place! Went down pure and simply because they were rubbish and not fit for the championship nowt to do with Derby, who were simply a better club...... Course I'm paraphrasing there but ask the Derby fans they'll tell yer!
This situation feels very much like an old football club in Glasgow circa 2012. Let it simmer and it'll take care of itself
they don't have to go into admin, Mel Morris has the personal wealth to sustain the debt, he just isn't choosing to use it. Apparently he's put very little of his own money in, despite what he led the fans to believe.
Now that our owners have pulled out of buying Oakwell, we could go and play at Pride Park. Just a thought.
