I hope England still go there next month for the T20s. Cricket to thrieve needs countries to go to Pakistan to play Cricket. It would have been a decent series with some fans allowed back on a reduced capacity, despite big names like Williamson avoiding it.
can only think a potential risk was discovered later, shame has pakistan have been doing their best to get cricket going again
and now we've also withdrawn from next months visit https://www.skysports.com/cricket/n...-and-womens-tour-of-pakistan-cancelled-by-ecb
You make statements like this so often while ignoring the fact that the people that made the decision know far more about the situation than you do and also have a lot more to lose from it not taking place. Safety of players should always be top priority.
Why is it a poor decision ? if there are security issues then it has to be good decision , if they went out there and ignored advice & an incident happened then what would you say ? Its a shame from a cricketing point of view but safety is paramount
The decision to abandon the tour was made on welfare, not security, grounds. This short tour was a promised thank you to Pakistan cricket for their sending a team over to us last year in the midst of the pandemic.
SPOILER ALERT: People on message boards give opinions every day on things others know more about or we'd not have messages to respond to. Anyway on to my point....Daren Sammy is just one guy telling everyone about what Pakistan is like....... https://www.geo.tv/latest/371501-at...-too-but-no-one-creates-an-uproar-daren-sammy The very goodwill of the PCB in sending a team to the covid capital of Europe in the summer of 2020 for a month of matches saved ECB millions of pounds and stopped a lot of counties from having financial difficulties. In return we were expected to play two short format games over back to back days in the same stadium. I am pretty sure they could find 11 lads up for doing that even if it was like our third choice team that beat them when they kindly returned to us this summer as well. It seems we've followed New Zealand and if the Kiwis had played we would have done. New Zealand cancelled on safety grounds but have given a big fat zero of evidence so we just have to accept their word. You can bet if Pakistan cricket had the money behind it that India do with the IPL that they would have been going and not mentioning wellbeing. We would have had the same security that New Zealand were getting of thousands of army, road blocks for miles around, helicopters and elite commandos. Cricket over here continued as normal in 2005 when 7/7 happened, but then tours to Pakistan get cancelled when nothing has happened. Plenty of English go there now to play in the PSL.
