The highlights show one effort from us which was from centre half virtually at the end of the game. That should tell us all we need to know about this and the majority of games this season.
Christ. If those are our highlights over 90 mins v Blackpool things are really bad. Body language of the players spoke volumes.
Stopped watching after 15 seconds. Blackpool player out wide, up against 3 of our lads. Should have had nowhere to go, yet we let him trot past without a challenge and put the ball into the danger zone. Poor.
Even if the highlights are only a half accurate representation of the game, it was all Blackpool (apart from the one chance shown at the end). They ssemed to carve us open at will and even the short highlights suggest they should have scored more than one. The worst thing for me was, when losing the ball in tackle..last year they would have run back and fought to regain possession but on a least two occasions in the highlights after losing the ball the players involved made no attempt to do so and either stood rooted to the spot or slowly jogged back. Energy, team sprit and enthusiasm in abundance last year seems to have evaporated and been replaced by lethargy and indifference. Lack of skill/experience is forgivable but lack of effort or enthusiasm is totally unacceptable. Has the manager lost the dressing room?
There was a moment when we had a free kick in their half they cleared and had 5 players through on goal thankfully it came to nowt but the difference in desire was on show their players busted a lung to get forward.
Brittain throws the ball to them (more often than you think) and just ambles about watching them score
I've not see it mentioned anywhere in other posts (although I haven't looked at all of them) but there was a pretty negative reaction at full time. Sections booed and a fair number down at the front making their feelings known to the players. Fair play to Cauley (who I thought had a decent game yesterday - most of the few good things we did went through him) who came over and talked to a few fans. I think the players were shocked and that suggests to me that's it's not that they can't be arsed but they definitely aren't doing enough. With the exception of Helik (where would we be right now without him!) and maybe Styles they all need to improve. There's a laziness to us, not tracking runners, not being willing to run and compete (Benson's booking yesterday was a prime example, their player went past him and rather than work hard to get back to him he simply hacks him down from behind) and they're not doing anything at pace. I share many of the concerns others have about Schopp and certainly some his team selections are strange but the players are also letting him down atm. They performed at their peak last season. Too many of them have let their standards drop this season and are way off it. And yes, I understand it's the managers responsibility to get the most of out them, but simply professional pride should drive them to do more than they are atm.
Blackpool could have had many more, and although posters on here will maybe say otherwise they aren't a good side and yesterday we made them look good. 2nd half they took the foot off the gas abit and looked for the counter but our attacks were so toothless. Players body language says it all looks like they don't want to play for schopp and I don't think many of them will be happy with how they are been asked to play or his baffling team selections.
Not biased at all one was jasper moon 1st half from outside the box when the whole away end were shouting shoot because we just wanted to see a shot it was the easiest save he'll make this season and same with cauley 2nd half. I cant remember us having any clear cut chances where I think we should have scored
No, Blackpool didn’t take their foot off the gas, we actually upped our game a bit and put them under a bit of pressure especially late in the game. (albeit still not good enough) I agree they are not a good side, but they are: together, workmanlike and have a belief which of course are necessary parts of the game. Despite this, they were made to look a far better side than they are because of our poor overall showing. I believe the way we try to play makes our ( too many) individual errors more noteworthy and often costly. The biggest question I asked yesterday and what bugged me most was why the fek was our far post not covered for their goal, he put in in the only place he could.
