I’m not replying mate. I replied already to you once before on this thread saying it’s just a repeat of the same argument/opinion. Nothing will get you to budge an inch so we accept and move on
Rather than being mature and just accepting that we disagree, you can’t resist an extra comment that isn’t relevant to anything I’ve said. If you think Oduor is playing as a striker then you’ve got less football knowledge than I thought you had. I notice you’ve started calling him a LWB rather than a LB though, so maybe we should call that progress? Southampton/Wolves, Hamilton chasing Norris, and cheering on Europe to at least win the final day if nothing else. All far more enjoyable than me and you repeating the same point back and forth and not getting anywhere.
A manager with any nouse would by now have worked out we need 3 in midfield so it's Palmer Benson and Gomes for me. Why he takes Palmer off and then drops him to the bench when he's been our best player after Collins beats me. Playing 3 strikers religiously when our onky decent striker is injured is a mystery. I tolerate Woodrow but I'm hopeful that the two Belgium strikers and Morris are ahead of him come Decemebr otherwise I fear for us. Final comment on the manager - what is his style and brand if football? Honestly someone tell me cos I don't see anything specific it's like here's the team go out and laik your best.
When Chelsea play 3-4-3, they play Mount who is generally an attacking midfielder, in the front 3. Personally, I think Odour’s best position is either as a 10, or Left midfield with a left back behind him. Neither of which are options in a straight 3-4-3
He didn’t fail against Birmingham though. Great assist to win the ball from the sleeping defence and laying it off to Styles. Caused QPR plenty of problems as well. Should have put us ahead against Blackburn. Improved us second half yesterday (not that it wasn’t difficult). Out of the options that have been available I don’t think he’s faired badly. With everyone fit he’s 5th/6th in the pecking order though, but I’ve got much more confidence in him being higher up the pitch than further back.
he’s had a couple of OK halves whilst creating zero and scoring zero. An abject failure. When everyone is fit he should not be in contention for any sort of forward role. Maybe 9th if 10th.as a makeshift if needed Styles who can actually pass and shoot would be a better option.
He’s the only player in the squad capable of dribbling the ball past defenders. He’s got one assist to his name, created a chance for himself which he should’ve done better with against Blackburn, also created a chance for brittain in that game. Yesterday, he was one of the few players trying to move forward, while everybody else was doing their best crab impressions.
Considering the way we’ve played in the final third, and how our talisman striker has only scored two (one a world class free kick), I’m not sure abject failure is a fair term to throw at a young kid getting 45 minutes here and there. I think he’s shown glimpses of being useful further forward. His trickery and balls in to the box would benefit us - if we weren’t playing the game like the wings and pulling out wide didn’t exist. Maybe I’m just too glass of half full sometimes, but surely it’s difficult to lay in to how a player has performed when we’re also admitting the whole team have been below par and the tactics challenging to understand/watch. After watching Vic yesterday I don’t get the Oduor hate, which is what it has turned in to.
You keep repeating that he’s a left wing back. That’s where he first broke in our side & played a few games but at Leeds as a kid he regularly played further forwards & clearly him & the coaching teams see him as a wide player further forward. I can’t see the issue with players been able to play different positions especially when the other options were Victor & Miller.
Was I angry about Cole at Qpr ???? Where. Any two from The two Belgians Cole and Victor or Freiser are the five who should be in a front 3 with Woodrow ahead of Odour IMHO it's not worked playing him there why persist with it.
I''m not blaming the kid I'm blaming the clueless head coach for playing him in a position that he's not good enough in
You do realise that Oulare wasn’t in the squad yesterday and that Oduor was on the bench? So yesterday he was 4th choice and played ok. Looked busy and probing, but it’s hard to be effective when your forward players are statues.
let's be honest he's not going to score you many goals in a front 3 is he? And schopp preffered victor to him yesterday. 1 goal in our last 4 says alot.
I really like Oduor and certainly don’t hate him. Being played out of position isn’t his fault it’s the managers.
Leeds United's website called him a left winger/left back. When we signed him out website called him a left winger/left back. Leeds uniteds manager called him that, our previous managers have played him there. It's just this clown who thinks he's a right sided striker (equal to freisers left sided striker role) and it's been lapped u by two people so far.
Exactly. He's not and never will be a right sided striker although I'll be lambasted again for saying thats where he's playing and told I know nothing about football.
This is interesting, and slightly surprising, in that Steve is one of the last people I would expect to express dis-satisfaction like this, as he is consistently one of the more rational and patient fans, both on this board and in real life. For him to feel like this so early into the season shows how underwhelming things are. My biggest issue with Schopp to date is that he has systematically unravelled every element of what made us successful last season to the point where the system is no longer one I recognise as a high-tempo press, which is supposedly the system that we recruit head coaches to play. We saw how it could be done extremely well last season and, rather than modify this and adapt to a new coaching style, we've thrown it out of the window and effectively reset ourselves to where we were post-Struber. I didn't expect us to be pushing for the playoffs again this season, as last year was one of those where everything aligned almost perfectly, but I didn't expect us to immediately become one of the weakest and most toothless teams in the division, which is quite obviously where we are. Additionally, looking at every player who was a part of the squad last season I can't think of anyone, perhaps other than Collins, who is performing at the same level as they were last season. Every single member of Ismael's squad has regressed in performance levels, and that can only be down to the coaching they're receiving. So we have a coach who, both individually and collectively, is failing to deliver at present, and that's a massive concern. Add to that his baffling team selections and tactic, at times, and it's not surprising that many are starting to ask questions. He's undoubtedly faced challenges that are not of his making, with the loss of Mowatt and Dike being the most significant. We've recruited 3 replacements up front who, combined, have contributed 2 starts (both lasting 45 minutes) and 4 substitute appearances to date. Some of this was enforced, but some is also down to the coach choosing not to utilise them in the team, so either they're not good enough or there's a question mark about how they're being coached to fit within whatever it is our system is supposed to be. In his defence, he's taken on the poisoned chalice of being the first incoming head coach I can recall in ages who actually has increased expectation upon him because of the achievements of his predecessor. However, unlike many of them, he's had the opportunity to work with the squad for a full pre-season rather than coming in during an international break outside of a transfer window. I'm not necessarily at the point where I'm calling for the club to get rid of him, partly because I don't really know what the alternative option would be, but we can't simply continue to sleepwalk towards a completely avoidable relegation battle, and that is where we're heading at the moment. I had a ticket for the game yesterday, along with cheap £1 return train tickets. As it turned out I wasn't able to use them on the day. However, what surprised me was that realising this didn't bring about the disappointment of not being able to go and support the team. Instead, I had a feeling that I was saving myself from a frustrating and disappointing trip, and reading the in-game comments and post-match reaction did nothing to change this view. It's worrying that I'm starting to feel this apathetic about us so soon after we over-achieved expectations so significantly. Let's hope we see a significant improvement in the next two home games. It's clear that the early goodwill towards a new coach has been exhausted by most people, and Forest and Millwall at home are both fixtures that we would have expected to deliver wins based on realistic pre-season expectations. Currently, if I was predicting the outcome, I'd be surprised if we came away from them with anything more than 2 points, and that worries me considerably.
