Did it last month. Got a photo done in a shop for a tenner which he emailed me. Attached it to the online form. It was dead easy, they kept me informed of progress by text/email throughout. Took aboout 3 to 4 weeks but that was including postage of my old passport from Ireland and them sending out the new one.
Cheers , the gov.uk site is saying even though I’ve got 9 months on my current passport if I travel to Spain after Sept 1st , I need a new passport
Yeah, it was starting to look a bit problematic. My old one was due to expire next year but figured I'd get it sorted now. Worst part of the process was seeing the state of the bloke in the photo who looks about thirty years older than he is in his head!
If you need it quickly we got my daughter's done in Durham recently. Got an appointment three days after applying, and got the passport back another three days after that. Cost £120 extra, but on the upside had a lovely afternoon in Durham, which is a very impressive little city (although being fleeced £13 for a pot of tea and a couple of scones near the cathedral left me somewhat less impressed!).
I had 5 months left on mine and we were due to go to Holland in October (which subsequently got cancelled) they acknowledged my application on the 3rd Sept, I sent my old one in, they acknowledged that on the 9th Sept, not heard anything since then.
Got mine done with the Post Office service. They take your picture and do everything for you. Got my passport back in about a week. It came back in a lucky bag.
Hi, mine expired last year along with driving licence. Applied for both three weeks ago at Mexbrough post office. Couldn't believe how easý it was. No forms to complete just stood in a photo booth and signed on the screen and that was it! I got an email confirming application. Day later another stating they had my old passport. Three days later my driving licence arrived. Passport took just over two weeks to arrive. Really impressed with the service. Enjoy your holiday.
