Think he’s lost the plot and the dressing room . Going to need a massive improvement in tactics to get a win Saturday
Nothing will change until Morris returns and if Oulare turns out to be any good. No coach would be able to pick a side with the players avaiable that will score enough goals to win games. The club has reverted to Plan A in terms of recruitment having been successful by 'tweaking' it. We lost 2 experienced players from an inexperienced squad and replaced them with gunner bees. Schopp has been deprived of other key players from last season (Anderson & Morris), has lost players through injury, suspension and Covid. He is also having to rely on others who didn't play much last year or are unfit having not had a pre-season. I have no idea if Schopp is any good but the team looks like it did under Struber. Play good football but lack aggression and a goal threat in final third. Ismael benefitted from a false season (no fans, Championship clubs not having funds to stregthen and the signings of Morris and Dike in January). We would be even worse with his style of play with the forward players we have available. I think the problems we have and I agree they are serious, are down to poor recruitment. We signed players we didn't need who are no better than the ones we have loaned out (Cole and Thompson spring to mind). Benson is a really good player, as is Gomes, but not what we needed. We have sent Herbie Kane out on loan who has potential. We have so many forward players at the club who aren't good enough for this level (quantity not quality). I was disappointed with Schopp on Tuesday night because it was obvious, even from the first half, what was going to happen but I don't think a change of coach would change anything in terms of results. We will play well in games and still not win due to the lack of goals
My only shower of hope is Iseka. The way he jumped and attacked that header and his build reminds me of Dike. I'd like to see more of him. Just that header being tipped round the post gave me a semi on.
I admit Morris is good and I do think he will improve the team no end when fit but the way some people on here are fixated with him returning you would think he was a mixture of Ronaldo, Messi and Lukaku rolled into one
It's his physical presence and ability to hold the ball up we are missing.....plus Woodrow will benefit. We still need someone to score goals regularly and alot hinges on Oulare in that respect. Dike won alot of games for us last year when we weren't that great (Wycombe, Luton, Huddersfield, Birmingham off the top of my head.....those wins are draws without him - 4pts instead of 12)
Did I miss owt, apart from what happened in the latter stage of Saturday night, apparently I enjoyed missen.
