In these days of everyone - players, agents, managers - wanting to grab the money on offer in football I can understand a prospective manager asking for things to be written in to maximise their earnings, such as a clause that says "pay me up if you sack me". But a club has to surely mitigate against someone accepting a contract and merely turning up on payday and doing not much else in between.

IMHO having decided to continue this ill-informed engagement, responsibility for any further continuation of our difficulties now rests squarely on the shoulders of the Board of Directors.

I'll get hammered for this, and probably rightly so, but I'd give him another 8 or so games.

I'm terribly sorry lads and lasses.

    Nothing to see here.....

But if we make no gains in those games, then that's that!

What has he shown so far to suggest that his performances will improve?

Slightly different question, just out of interest - do you think he’ll turn things around in those games?

Sorry chaps - didn't purposefully ignore this.

ST - obviously recent performances haven't been great. But I saw enough in the first half at the weekend to suggest that after finally changing two out of the front three, there is something promising there. Iseka looked dangerous and talented (albeit nowhere near fit), Cole led the line and worked hard - and challenged their centre halves better than Woodrow can (something you've been wanting someone to do for a while). I think with that front 3, with a fit Benson behind and Styles wide, we'll be ok. There are no real issues with the defence - we aren't losing games because of that, although I would prefer Sibbick over Moon and Styles LWB. An international break will hopefully freshen us up.

LT - unsure. But I'll give him the benefit of the doubt now a few personnel changes have happened (see above). If after another 6/8 games with a full(er) fit squad to choose from we are still in the bottom three then I'll accept I was wrong.

Interesting to see Tottenham have some sort of clause built in to mitigate Nuno being a disaster:

Tottenham can sack boss Nuno Espirito Santo in the summer without having to pay any compensation if he does not lead them to a top-six finish in the Premier League. (Athletic - subscription required)

Maybe that is the next step to making sure our appointment of 'unknowns' provides for the provision of compo (should they be successful) AND performance related targets to minimise a payout if he gets the push?

Surely contracts are confidential? He's not as wise as I thought he was if that's the contract he signed, Spurs are a basket case and at the time of signing it Kane looked set to depart too.

They probably should be confidential Helen, but lets face it a lot of stuff like salary etc always gets into the public domain in football and always has.

I think Spurs have got it right here, and to be honest if I was Nuno, I'd be happy to take the risk, so long as the flip side was more reward for reaching the target of top 6. Incentive!!

That's fair. Though the max I'd give is probably 3-4 games, to see if there's any signs of improvement in the patterns of play, defensive shape, or general fitness. Just some evidence of the international break being used productively.

If the club listened to the fans on every decision we'd be in the conference now.
