I've also been running it for a couple of months. I don't think it is a vast improvement over Windows 10, especially if you do have to pay for it.

Edit: I've just downloaded the software to check compatibility and it says my PC can't run Windows 11 - it certainly can!

If it does fail on anything, its no bad thing. It just made me realise my PC's are ancient and my laptops aren't.

Don't quote me on this, but if it's just the processor, it might still work. Time will tell.

Windows 10 has refused to update on this old HP Z400 for over a year now so I don't hold much hope for 11. Great timing to be pushing people to update their hardware in a time of hardware shortages.

Mine was refusing to update due to space - I ended up deleting about 80gb of previous update files that were stuck in a random appdata/temp folder

I suspect I'll have an issue on one of mine. The main drive is only 100gb - and last time I tried to replace laptop hardware I made a right cockup of it. Why aren't laptops easily accessible any more (and I only mean HDD and RAM).

Stan Ogden would make the starting line up. Dennis the Menace could be striker with Harry Worth on the corners. Jimmy Glass in goal, Terry Paine in mid-field.

Annoyingly, the lesser and greater version numbers seem to make the list :-(

Mine's 6 years old so guess I shouldn't have been surprised. Can't really justify a new one at present so will see how it goes.

My 'travel' laptop is ready and waiting and the only one of mine capable at the moment. However, watch it try to download an update when I'm not on my own network. Android on my phone seems to want an update all the time when I connect to someone else's wifi. Surely it's intelligent enough to realise which network it usually connects to.

Doubt enterprise will be adopting it, until/unless they sort out TPM

You can download a checker by doing an internet search. Mine isn't compatible (six years old) due to hardware issues. Several IT sites saying W11 is a way to 'encourage' people to buy new machines. I'm looking at Linux (free download) as an OS which isn't encumbered by all of Microsoft's constant need for updates to fix bugs.

I read yesterday that Microsoft themselves released a way around this. I shall try to dig out the link. You do still need v1.2 (I think it said). I didn't even know it was a thing until all this W11 talk.

Surprise surprise, my 4 year old Pentium G4620 isn’t compatible. At least I won’t have to re-do all the registry privacy/anti-telemetry modifications again :D

On a previous laptop, I had a problem I just couldn't resolve (I'd rather fix it than start from scratch) and I just couldn't do it. (Parents have same issue now on old pc ironically).

Anyway, I used Linux Mint as a replacement (so sort of contradicting myself on starting from scratch). Point is, it was excellent but I did miss the Windows software, particularly Office. Libra and Open Office aren't a patch on MS unless you're very small users of it.

Whilst we're on the Windows topic, what really annoys me is that its got a face lift, as did Windows XP, Windows 10, and all version of Windows, but the actual inside, under the bonnet bits are basically the same and some don't seem to have been touched since Windows 95 (slight exaggeration).Go deep enough down and you find settings pages that were easier to find in Windows 95 than they are now. And the broken bits don't seem to be resolved.
