We've got a knackered old stand no one wants to own the issue. Meanwhile the Premiership turn a blind eye to human rights abuse and assassinations to allow the Saudis to buy club. Covid brought about hardly any transfer activity, get ready transfer inflation. They won't hang around, Bruce will get the boot, then they'll rebuild in 12 months. They'll get round FFP by announcing crazy sponsorship deals etc. They've got a few stands that need TLC, that'll be done in no time. Hate football, love BFC
Next 2 years, they'll get Conte or someone high profile and go crazy in next few transfer windows. Can see the likes of Arsenal, Man Utd and Spurs all falling away. They won't be able to keep pace financially. They're all mortgaged up to the hilt, and are financing transfers with basically funny money.
Not excusing human rights abuses etc (isn't the damage already done where corrupt owners of football clubs are concerned anyway?) but if any club in the top tier deserves a bit of luck and a cash injection surely it's Newcastle. They would have taken anyone after the pain inflicted by Ashley I expect.
The joke will be on the Geordies when the owners say they won’t spend a penny and want the club to be self sufficient
Newcastle are a huge club and their fans have had to endure a lot. However this takeover is further proof the game is ******.
Absolutely. The game was corrupted with dirty money many moons ago though, I'm not shocked by this. I am surprised at how long Ashley has stuck it out for though, I know it's all about money with him too but talk about doing everything you can not to appease the fan base.
No chance, the Saudi's will want to stamp their financial power on the league. They'll want to smash Man City's owners. We're about to move from Ferrari budgets to F1.
Fans already saying Europe in 2 years. Talking about Man U did you see report today about Glazers selling shares worth more than the debt for themselves.
I find it a bit rich that people in the media are claiming Newcastle fans should boycott their club because of the Saudis. While ever our Government’s in bed with them it sets the standard that it’s ok. I hope they spend a fortune & give the Geordies something to celebrate. They were a side regularly playing in Europe until Ashley took them over & turned them into a giant advertising tool for his businesses & put less money into them than clubs like Bournemouth & Fulham.
Yep, the Glazers the Henry's and Kroenke's of this world are devious ********. They're all extremely wealthy for a reason, they take money out of their investments and let their businesses be propped up by bad money. Financial crisis on the horizon so they've got to move quickly. They're no different to Phillip Green, just on a grander scale.
So many big clubs struggling in Europe, their best players and the wages they're commanding will make them easy targets for Newcastle. Likes of Inter, Milan, Barca and Juve can't afford to keep paying the big wages and transfer fees. Super agents will have been brokering deals with the new owners for weeks. They've got a new team to exploit.
Newcastle fans aren't top of my list to feel sorry for in all honesty. There's no divine right to be in the top league.
Top owner is Mike Ashley. Gave them Premier League Football, doesn't spend cash they don't have, makes big profits on many sales and going to sell the club on to someone who's got the cash to compete with Man City. Not much Newcastle fans can complain about.
It had to be a consortium to make the Premier League happy it wasn't the Saudi state buying it. Its all smoke and mirrors, if you don't look hard enough and employ people who aren't Saudi then the illusion is complete. Money will enter the club via many third parties, it won't appear as Saudi state cash, but it will be. The Pandora papers have shown us what is possible with the right / wrong people on side. Premier league will love having the Saudi money splashing around.
To be fair over last 10 years only Spurs, Man City & Liverpool have spent more on infrastructure than Bournemouth. Equally how Ashley was allowed to buy the plot of land next to St James of NFC for £6 million and then sell for £9 million I’ll never know.
The reason the PL clubs didn’t want this to go through initially was nowt to do with human rights or tv deals in Qatar. The bottom clubs wanted Newcastle fighting with them to take a relegation spot and the ‘big 6’ were scared that the Saudis would spoil their party. They’ll all be gutted tonight.
