I'm a bit embarrassed by it tbh - it's desperately in need of attention. I'd hoped that eventually it might be upgraded along the lines of what Fulham have done to their older stands (yes, I know they've knocked one down and rebuilt entirely) but wouldn't have been against a complete rebuild. It'll be more embarrassing having one side of the ground entirely empty for a long time though. But irrespective of that, what I'm most frustrated about in all this is the paucity of communication - again. In the same statement he reiterates he'll be transparent and is then anything but. The explanation is merely some vague pointers to some structural and stewarding issues. The fans and in particular those who are being forced to move seats, deserve better than that. Mr El-Ahmad - please don't talk about being transparent again until you and the owners are actually willing to be so.
not so sure about ulterior motives regards closure tbh as they would only have needed to close the bottom tier instead of the whole shebang . Even the directors (mostly away ) can’t sit there only the media for some reason . It’ll come out int wesh
I reckon this is the first step in the consortium getting ready to move BFC away from Oakwell, a way they could justify as not being their fault.
maybe they could pull it down but keep the terracing of the lower part, could put in safe standing there with a roof over it perhaps.
See what happens. I saw yesterday that a number of unnamed clubs have applied to install safe standing this year... wonder if we're one of them. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/58829384
As long as his wife and kids are happy and he's happy he couldn't give a shiny 5hit. He said that in his opening gambit. He's measuring his success on how clean his swimming pool is. If it has leaves in it he's not too pleased at having to press the button for the retractable roof.
