Someone's telling porkies and I know who my money is on..... West standers been used in a battle by looks.
Why would Conway and Co resort to these tactics unless they were posturing about not wanting to buy the ground anymore?
This I would guess. The vast majority of people using the West Stand are, I assume, season ticket holders; and will, in all probability, transfer to a different stand. So marginal effect on revenue. But costs reduced through lack of need for safety stewards etc. How can it have come to this?
"Following extensive structural inspections of Oakwell Stadium, it has been identified that various remedial works are required to the (DX) West Stand and, to therefore ensure the protection of all spectators, the Club have taken the necessary decision to close the stand until further notice. In addition to structural challenges, safety concerns and crowd management issues were also raised and cited as rationale to close the 130-year-old stand." Structural challenges and safety concerns, ergo, they are sowing the seeds that it is unsafe. Meanwhile the council, and I paraphrase, suggest that is in the realms of horse ****.
Won’t be getting that many away supporters in league one next season. They’ll want the season ticket holders back then.
surely the Landlords are responsible for the suggested repairs /remedial measures ? I know I was when I was letting my house out in Scotland many years ago.
There's a difference between commercial and residential. It will depend on the agreed terms in lease.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but are the council saying they looked at it last month and it was fine. So the council, who own and are reluctant to sell the ground, did their own safety check and said it was fine, but an official report says it isn't? Again, nobody's coming out of this situation looking great are they?
There’s considerable savings to be had, in addition to playing hard ball potentially over the lease/ownership. Maybe a dozen fewer stewards altogether when considering gangways, along the touch line and round the back of the stand No catering staff or supplies required, so that’s 3/4 I think Half a dozen turnstile staff not needed No cleanup afterwards in and under the stand It’s ***** to have been sold my ticket in bad faith, after staying on the last two years when I could have not bothered due to Covid. It’s ******* cheap of them as well. If it was being rebuilt fair enough, this just sitting in limbo and playing silly games.
I thought the club statement was very carefully worded at the time. They didn't mention structurally unsafe or anything like that they simply implied whilst being very vague. A bit like saying I'm not saying I wouldn't leave Mr mysterious alone with your kids if I were you. Now in reality that's because Mr mysterious has terrible concentration levels and the kids could have an accident without him realising but in your mind I've already called him a nonce.
Liar liar pants on fire.. one or two of us have been saying for years that you can't believe anything that comes out of Oakwell.. They tell you what they want you to believe..
Wayhey! You got to use your favourite word again. Type it into the search function and go back and see how many times you've used it in the last couple of years.
The club now look like a proper set of numpties, crap football crap results, crap league position and now crapper than ever public relations.
**** loads, it is my favourite word! ;-) It's also the best word to accurately describe the tone of ownership under ConLee, hence it's been used **** loads!
Wow you keep trying to deflect from the clubs lies.. closing a stand when it didn't need closing leythtyke.. its almost like you are an employee.. or even higher
Looks like 'ya boo sucks' from the owners to me and 'we'll punish the fans' to see what the response is...
