    Crowd management issues:
I have half joked about it already, but really the frenetic, jobsworth steward in the WSL on Saturday really was a man on a mission. If anyone else has any observations on him I'd be interested to hear, but he really was over-zealous. It was raining FFS, people were helping each stay dry whislt not causing ANY gangway issues whatsoever. If he got onto his walkie talkie after the game, with the same frequency and intensity he did through it, then it sounds to me like someone has listened to him.

I'm not exactly expecting him to invade Poland last week, but he really did have a bee in his bonnet. He's always seemed one of the better ones before, too. Like he was on acid .....

Be forest game as millwall didn't sell out. But that crowd management is down to the club and selling tickets to away fans wouldn't happen at games like forest if we could use the full 6k capacity of the North stand. We have a 22k seater stadium with about 14k capacity now its a joke. Preston, Blackburn and other clubs with big away ends don't have a problem with using the full capacity of them.

You’ve got to laugh , there’s a fair few posters who for years slag the Council off and say you can’t believe a word they say unless apparently it’s to do with BFC and a safety certificate they as Landlords issued . We don’t know what remedial repairs are needed or how much they will cost . How much has the Council as Landlord spent on the ground since 2003 , I’m guessing sod all , but I’m sure Council tax payers would like to know

"The Holder" is Barnsley Football Club 2002 Limited.

I can see why the owners wouldn't want to pay for the upkeep of something if they didn't own it outright BUT they will have done due diligence and have known the score when they bought the club. It seems they have let it deteriorate and even the scoreboard not working contravenes the above responsibilities.

You can't kick off about something after signing a contract knowing full well it is your responsibility.

I dont know why they need to close the west stand to just plug the scoreboard cable in. I would have thiught cones would have solved it.

But the point is the stand is still safe to use so why sell 1k season tickets and then say oh wait chose another seat or you can have your money back. Some folk will have sat there for 20+ years. Think the owners need to shed some light now.

following this logic we should also close the away end for some games.

You wouldn't want the demolition to cause anyone any harm.

Not quite the same, as I'm sure you're aware of deep down. Although Patrick Cryne would have likely advocated for that in some of the, shall we say, less desirable midweek games.

Yep. I think this whole thing is a more complex topic than 1000 people = close the doors. There clearly are a lot of unusual occurrences in the general running our club of late.

Just thinking, the business in question pays £250k-ish per year in rent to use Oakwell Stadium as the base for their entire operation.

    £250k-ish a year for:

    - Commercial offices
    - Training facilities
    - Revenue generating properties (car park, stadium etc)

I think from memory they 'made' £3m of revenue just from selling access for people to sit in that stadium about 25 times a year. It's a f.cking unbelievable deal when you consider the overall revenue from the football club at the last accounts was c£20m.

If I was the landlord, I'd be telling 'em to stick it. If they wanted the West Stand open, or they saw it as valuable to them, it'd be open next Sunday.

You could also argue that the company that own Oakwell are making £250k per annum net profit. With zero investment required, on a long term lease, where part of the ownership group of one side are also part of the ownership group on the other. It's a pretty good deal on their part as well when you consider that 50%* of the Oakwell owners benefit from a successful football club. That revenue is never in danger, where as the revenue for the owners of the football club is always in danger.

    * Edit to 100% of the owners benefit from a successful football club

Isn't that what happens for all commercial lets? They stumped up a few million 20 years ago which was decent coin at a tricky time. You could argue, in a free market/capitalistic way they are being rewarded for their risk & significant investment all that time ago...

Even domestically, legally I as a landlord just need to make sure it's habitable & safe. Sounds like the landlords have been doing that with their regular reviews & inspections...
