Probably my least favourite stand, have to walk miles round the ground to get to it, takes ages to get out, bang average views & you get buffeted by the weather.

He’s a local MP doing his job by getting involved in local issues. If you want to have a pop at a MP have a go at your own. There’s certainly plenty of scope

It was about 4 weeks ago when they said there was a shortage of stewards. They could easily have recruited some in that time. We noticed during the Forest game, there were some who didn't have Doyle Security on the back of their jackets, and there was a lot of instruction passing, particularly during that phase where they all went to 'phase 4 positions'. Half of them didn't know what that meant.

2 years for an MP who nearly lost one of the biggest majorities in the country Who some voters associate him as Major of Sheffield ( heard it more than once ) , he’s got a lot of catching up to do

Isn't his job though to serve his constituency and deal with things that bother people within it? Sounds like he can't win in your eyes? Keeps a low profile- useless. Speaks up about things- only doing it for the general election in 2024.

To be fair to the O.P, its not like our current owners have lied before is it?

Ah yes, of course they have.

I've made peace with it. I now don't believe anything anybody says from The Club - it's much easier that way.

I would presume the owners have got an independent structural survey that states the stand isnt fit for use. Thats why they wil. have shut the stand.
    Just a thought.

Another thought all the new parking and road restrictions that have been introduced by the council for safety reasons on matchdays, its highly doubtful but potentially the council started making life difficult for the owners and now they are reacting back. Tit for tat but with us stuck in the middle.

Blocking off the junction to harbour hills under the bridge after the match and shutting the sliproad off harbour hills to pontefracte road on a matchday there is absolutely no reason to do this.

We are stuck in the middle of all this and us suffering.

Barnsley council are to blame as much as the owners.

Tit for tat between the two

The club made the decision to close the roads. There HAS been a structural survey which has deemed the stand structurally safe.

If the club closed the roads / parking and have not had a survey done then i will backtrack on my post.

I would be very surprised though if either is the case but happy to be proven wrong.

The traffic management company is hired by the club and the survey was done a couple of weeks ago unless you think the club would bizarrely pay for a second survey immediately after a survey was done in order to actually look for more faults which is a crazy suggestion when you think about it

I can't believe he thinks that a business would have a survey done be told their business premises are fine to have customers in and think 'what? This is outrageous! We will pay for a second survey in the hope that they find a reason that we have to close our premises'

Traffic management company organised by the club under the direction of the council, we have to do this at work. You cant put traffic management changes in place without a licence from the council. The council can impose restrictions on you as a company.

I also dont believe legally they can come out in public and state the stand is structurally unsafe without evidence of an independant structural survey especially if the council state that it is safe. A structural survey wouldnt cost much to carry out.

Again happy to be proved wrong and if I am wrong my full opinion of these owners and the situation will change.

I don't think the club actually use the word unsafe they said something along the lines of safety issues which is very different. It leaves it open for interpretation so folk have assumed the club meant unsafe, which clearly isn't the case given the council's statement.
The council wouldn't have made the statement they made yesterday if the stand was in anyway unsafe to sit in

You would do that if you had doubts over the stand and were responsible for putting people in it.

I think a lot of people have doubts over the west stand thats why we have multiple threads over the years of pulling it down, its over 130 years old. There is a chance its ready for pulling down and this i believe is the councilsan Crynes responsibility.
