Walton is the next best to Watson that I’ve seen at one on one situations. Always fancy him to stop it. He’s a modern keeper when it comes to crosses, never looks to catch. That will have been coached into him. Watson was never strong in the air as he lacked the height though was agile. Watson had his fallibilities but I still maintain that without his knee injury he’d have gone on to play for years in the premier league and maybe for England. I still rank him as the best Barnsley goalkeeper, and remember how young he was when he made his last appearance - 24. He was robbed of probably 12-15 seasons. Jack I don’t think is destined to be as good as Watson would have been, but he’s a great young keeper.
I agree with this but Jack has a lot of years left to improve hopefully and who knows how good he can he can get, I don't get the impression he sees any limits.
Not sure I'd critisice Walton much for the goal today. Sollbauer had been drawn out of position, and a good ball over the top left us open. Walton would've done well to come out and close him down from there.
In virtually any goal conceded there are always areas where the defending side could have done better, but in any case it was a moment of real quality.
https://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/spo...r-his-chance-to-supplant-brad-collins-3416505 I could see him going out on loan in January. Collins has been one of our best players this season and keeper is the one position you don't make a tactical substitution with. He needs to be playing games but you can't drop Brad.
Since we will be unable to recall him from a loan outside of a transfer window, there will be no chance of him going out on loan in case of injury to Collins.
Wouldn't be suprised Collins has been our best, most consistent player so far this season and half of last season was also good. Waltons not a bad shot stopper but Collins is the better of the 2. I imagine either him or helik will be sold in January don't worry though all funds will go back into strengthening the playing squad....
Waltons the better shot stopper imho, Collins has let some longer range efforts in at times, this season one-on-one and “blind” saves Collins has been top draw, with his positional awareness, he gets the nod for me, if he keeps it up he could be player of the year.
The only player who has improved under schopp and Still only 24 very young for a keeper think he will have a good career brad.
