Yes been circling Stairfoot/bottom of Ardsley for about an hour. Probably a surveyor plane?

    It's a police-owned aircraft.

Could be looking for a misper.

It's a Police plane. It is based at Finningley airport whatever they call it now.

Yes, I noticed it had taken off from Donny. Why would a Police plane be making such maneuvers though?

Also whilst we're on the subject, what the chuff has Robin Hood or Sheffield have to do with Doncaster airport????????????????????????

The consortium wouldn't let them in to check the safety of the west stand so they went for a birdseye view of it.

I think we had to add Sheffield to keep SY council on side for funding.

As for Robin Hood, we’ll it ought to be obvious that S Yorks is the home to Robin Hood with Nottinghamshire having a more tenuous link.

According to legend, Robin is of Loxley (Sheffield) and Redhouse features in the stories (north Donny on the A1) there’s also Robin Hood’s well a few miles north of Redhouse.

Clearly Sherwood Forest was historically much larger, as almost the entire country was forest back then.

As a total aside, one of the things that winds me up about ‘countryside’ types is their assertion that our moorlands are a ‘natural habitat’, but they’re only a couple of hundred years old, left to nature they’d return to forest.

What I was told years ago ,Sherwood Forrest stretched almost to North York’s and most of the south of Yorkshire came under the jurisdiction of the Sheriff of Nottingham with Rest of Yorkshire under Jurisdiction of York.
