When was the last time there was such a rotten feeling around the club? The administration days?

The nightmare owners, the shocking manager, the neglected stadium. It's so bleak. I've got a season ticket but I don't want to go to the games any more.

The last 5-6 years have swung so wildly between fantastic and awful - 2016 amazing, Jan 17 horrendous, relegation, Stendel amazing, horrific transfer window, great escape, Val's year and now this stinker. This seems like the worst of the lot though. Something terminally wrong at the club.

Would you prefer alternating years of boom and bust, or perpetual mediocrity?

I'm same really bought season ticket off the back of a great season I thought if we keep val we will be able to push on look at the Norwich game last game of the season we drew 2-2 and 10 of the 11 starters are still here now exept chaplin.

Val goes terrible window awful managerial appointment staff leaving left right and center, fans getting treated like dirt. Not looking good.

I don't think it's that doom and gloom. It's not good, by any stretch, but I think we're at a point where more people are finally starting to question the owners motives and actions and finding the holes that have been there for a long time. That's actually a good thing for my mind.

The problem is uncertainty. Of what happens next, how clean or messy it will be, what casualties are taken and how the fans may suffer until resolutions are found. And beyond that, if the owners do change (which I think they will, but I'd be surprised if it's this season unless they desperately cash in while in a higher league while 5th is still fresh), what we are then owned by.

It's also intensified by league position and the stark contrast from league position last season. How something that could be used as a base for linear development has been blown away completely in a matter of just months to expose the harsh reality of how transient things are at this club and building something is difficult in football, even with the perception of a firm footing and stability.

Maybe results will pick up, maybe the 2 week break will have done the players and coaches good. Maybe a brighter dawn is just around the corner and we just don't know it yet.

Thought it was a thread about Professor Doom (Whitty) and Professor Gloom (Vallance).

I was feeling reasonably optimistic until that letter dropped through the letter box telling me that I had to move seats, since then I have realised that I am not a valued supporter of the club & that I am no longer wanted by the club , since then I have started to look at everything through cynical eyes, I no longer believe or trust the custodians of our club & when you lose trust & belief then the only way is downhill , so currently regarding everything Barnsley Fc I do not think I have ever felt lower & if I didn"t go with my Grandkids I think I would call it a day , something that would never ever have entered my head before.

I was really hoping for mediocrity this season, and build from there. Looking more lije bust though at this moment in time.

My wildly optimistic prediction (for me) was for us to finish anywhere between 10th and 16th with no danger of being in a relegation scrap.
That's me done with optimism in future ;)
