Not saying for one minute sell the ground to the owners without caveats but we’ve got a situation where the owners of the ground can’t/ won’t invest in new infrastructure in a stand that’s barely half full and losing capacity if we ever get big games again . Then we have owners who are willing to invest it at least say they are, who haven’t earned trust if the fans or for that matter the owners of the ground . Surely a few caveats into an agreement that rest assured fans of the club Is not unreasonable if those are your true intentions. We have good reason to be suspicious , It could in fact be business politics between the owners of the club and the ground rather than anything we need to be suspicious of but without knowing and both parts washing their dirty laundry in public and each denying others motives we won’t know . We have a right IMO to know the full facts of this case and it needs to be cleared up . Some of the unfounded accusations and insinuations of the owners is over the top imo but by closing the remaining stand just into the season and upsetting fans that have given them money up front for seats they’ve had years it’s not surprising with all the upset they have caused . However some of the vile language and insults from a minority of fans chasing the owners on the internet do not speak for the vast majority of fans who want answers for the hurt the owners have caused , We all want answers to the questions posed and we are rightfully angry but we also want solutions because right now it doesn’t look as though any of the promised investment is happening or even about to happen .
Ha ha.....mmmmm. That would be no! I know i keep banging on about him but he would be perfect for us would jenky.
Sat in the West Stand for over 25 years has been my life. These complete T osspots I wouldn’t p is on if they were on fire.Do us all a favour and Fec k off Quickly
Not sure I'd trust them buying the ground and surrounding area that would come with it at the minute.
Wouldn't the obvious thing to do is show a architect drawing on your plans ,or a digital sketch of a new stand which would be literally a few pounds from someone on fivver to knock up This would put pressure on the owners council to sell as it would induce pressure from the fans seeing the sketchers. i would have had a artists impression done and shown it to the fans at the opening press conference 4 years ago 4 years later nothing other people seem to be different. A new stand makes no sense to a investment group who usually invest for around a max 5 year time frame it would take years , how long just to clear planning. after it has been built the stadiums worth might not be worth a penny more than it was before ,infact it could be worth less based on land market value whose paying for it alot of people seem to think they don't seem to have any money to spend there is no evidence they have spent any of there money on any club they have been involved in. There modus operandi seems to be borrow money to invest in club then use said clubs funds to pay that back. The clubs are just assets/ a buisness to them, fans are customers and the best customers in the world. customers for life and new ones coming online there children etc how ever much you annoy upset them they will probably never desert there club especially in times of need due to the defend protect your home town castle at all cost, guess war type attitude that fans seem to have towards there club
Not sure about all of that tbh . Someone has to invest in the stands otherwise they will all close eventually , better the investment comes early . There’s plenty of fans who will stop coming if they feel disenfranchised , fans aren’t a bottomless pit anywhere , sure you’ll have fans that go choose what but that wouldn’t be anywhere near the attendance now and would get lower over time as it did in the sixties and early seventies . There’s been no investment since they took over , using the clubs Money in the transfer market and stating it’s the dispute with the other owners that’s stopping this and none of us know the ins and outs of this as all party’s are washing in public and batting the ball to and fro. What we need is clarity from all party’s and to sit down and get an amicable agreement and stop acting like spoilt kids .
Emotions aside, a lot businesses operate like we do. Owners using business capital to pay for the business itself. A lot of ‘management buy-outs’ operate like this - with basically future profits paying for buyout. So whilst there are some issues over delayed payments (which we are not fully informed of), and the West Stand debacle (which on a paper kinda makes sense financially), we also have to be careful what we wish for. Do not confuse our owners with the Venkys, Oystons, Marinakis and Wai Kay’s of the footballing world just yet. We’ve done well in recent years - on and off the pitch. Which inevitably has lead to staff/playing assets being pecked over. I ain’t a ‘happy clapper’, but I’m also not getting carried away calling for the sale of the club. Time will tell, but the Oakwell issue was always going to raise it’s expensive head at some point…..
The oakwell issue wasn't going to raise its head of the 80% mob didn't spend a few years trying to get out of the agreed price when they bought the club
Disagree. History clearly shows bringing a club and ground back together is never simple and gives a rough ride to all involved. Palace is one example. And it took Leeds years to sort out too. Derby and Wednesday have all this to come. At least Derby has a modern stadium.
When they purchased the club they announced that they had a clause in place allowing them to purchase the ground at a set price in 6 months time. Had they exercised that right they would own the ground, they chose not to as they decided to negotiate instead to drive the price down
