Hi redrum,I can't see why I've been classed as pro board when all I've said is I'll wait until the truth is out.The only time I have backed the board openly on here is when they sacked Daniel Stendel and although I loved the man his actions were worthy of dismissal.
If you care to look into this issue further some on this board have attacked and even lied to justify there anger because Stendel was sacked and that continues today.

And just ignore you when it’s pointed out too, not to mention others copying the incorrect spelling.

Better results might have meant it less likely that the West Stand closed, but my point is that better results would have made it less likely that many would have protested at its closure.

Decent football might make it a little more tolerable, but win, lose or draw, a **** view is still a **** view. Doubly **** if it's been imposed on you.

I've always had my suspicions about the owners and have stated as such on several occasions from the very beginning. Firstly, how come an international consortium based in the far east and USA want to take over a provincial English club? No connection to the community or history of Barnsley whatsoever. It always has been my view that they are here to make themselves more money at the expense of the local community/club if needs be. If the club is successful on the pitch then we, as fans, would enjoy the entertainment but the bottom line is and always has been for the board to make money. Promotion to the Premier League last year would have made money. Fans are irrelevant other than they may be another vehicle to make money. The club is not important to them apart from its ability to raise money for them.
They will occasionally make 'correct' decisions regarding, say, managerial appointments (e.g Ismael) but those decisions too are only important in the big scheme as a way of making money.
They are not here because they are interested in Barnsley fans. They are not interested in the club's history. They are not here to act as custodians for the benefit of the community. They will say they are because it sounds good but they're not.
Patrick Cryne for all his faults was a Barnsley fan and cared about the club. The Dennis family were the same although things went askew.
The trouble with my view is that even if my analysis is correct there is it appears no one who is likely to come in and take the club forward if these people leave. In essence this is why I am very disillusioned with the whole thing and feel as though football is gradually becoming less important for me. I have less connection to a club run like ours is. I find the whole thing very sad. I don't have a solution though.
    Rant over.

We might think this hasn't been a motivation for previous boards, but surely that's the motivation of every board up and down the country? Certainly in the modern era more than ever.

I totally get what you're trying to say but the opportunity to make money is probably the single biggest influence for someone owning a football club.

You're probably right and my romantic views about football ownership make me out as a dinosaur. We all know what happened to dinosaurs.....

Romantic thoughts are always the most positive and the ones we cling to more than ever when things are difficult.

Nothing wrong with owners wanting to make a bit of cash or at least break even but it should be balanced by a GENUINE concern for the welfare of the club and community which the club is grounded in. I think that's what Im trying to say.... International capitalists dont tick that box for me I'm afraid even if I'm unrealistic. It's not what football is about for the common people where the game grew up. I'll stop rabbitting now..

At the risk of repeating myself, even if the council agreed to sell there are still two issues. Firstly, they would also have to get the Crynes to sell or they still wouldn’t be in a position to do whatever it is you think they would do if they owned it outright. Secondly, there is the mystery covenant that allegedly prevents them establishing clear title. I get that people like to bash the council at every opportunity, but on this occasion, at least, it seems a bit misguided.

Perfectly put. Our stars might occasionally align with those of the Board but the motivation s are completely different.
