We all very much doubted we'd be bottom 3 this season. We very much doubted the west stand would be shut mid season... Interesting how things you doubt would happen, do.
Wondered how long it would take for people to catch on. I’ve known this information for a couple of weeks now. If you remember I started a thread hinting at The New York Stadium. It is indeed true.
There’s no new ground to find within the borough. The choice is simply Oakwell or a brand new build. And with the best will in the world, a new ground from scratch is a longer build than a new west stand.
If I wanted to watch a team wearing a red and white strip and playing home games in Rotherham I'd be a Rotherham United fan. Move the team out of Barnsley and that would be me done.
You started a thread saying you liked their stadium and that we should build one like it, not that we would ground share it. What's your source for saying that it is true?
You know that if we did play out of Barnsley it would only be temporary yeah? I'm sure EFL rules prevent a club from upping sticks permanently to a new town/city, stemming from the Wimbledon/MK Dons thing.
"Old by modern standards". So what? It's only 27 years old, and I love it. I have a great view near the halfway line in East Upper. I'm 6 feet tall and find I have plenty of legroom. Toilets are fine. What's wrong with it? How often do you think stands should be replaced?
Small point but that rumour makes no business sense. We owe rent on Oakwell for next season whether we play there or not. In any case we need to train somewhere. I don’t know what Rotherham would charge but I can see it being less than 150K How many fans would renew Season tickets I’d bet less than half. Not saying our owners won’t do something that dumb but it makes no sense.
Another thing for supporters Trust to point out next week with the ceo we are Barnsley we play in Barnsley or what is the point
Just spoke to a Pompey supporting mate who made the (as it turned out) depressing trip to Rotherham, he knows nowt about our troubles, but heard this rumour in the pub from Rotherham fans before their match today too.
New York Stadium would actually be more accessible, easier to park at and generally more comfortable than Oakwell at present.
