From that statement, I asked if the report had been seen as it suggest the content is known. im not condemning or defending either side here, it was a simple question as I was interested in reading it(same as I’ve read statements and agreement on the Council website). And for what it’s worth I agree it could have been nipped in bud.
Personally I believe that people who think they can treat you as thick are themselves far thicker than they think you are. Or summat. I hope that comes across as a compliment, apologies if not
Take your point re a clear statement but I don't think it would necessarily have been concise given that its a H&S issue. 20000 face to face meetings? Of course not. That's why we have representatives. On a side note I wish we did have 20000 fans. Every week.
Given that I've always thought that I'm thick but hope you didn't think I was thick, how thick does that make you?
We do have 20,000 fans. Well over that actually. Of course not everyone can go every week. And they claim it's a safety issue, they've provided no evidence of that. All the I'll feeling is completely down to their disgraceful behaviour and complete lack of respect they've shown their customers
The wide spread abuse of the law is a gross exaggeration to say the least , I was there & sat on the open seats, all I saw were people taking shelter in extreme weather & certainly not meriting the closure of the stand , it could be used as a threat for future action should fans, stewards & the club not adhere to clear code of practice for future matches however if everything was adhered to by the book then all our stands would have been closed at various times over the years, but lets not deviate from what was said in the letter to which us season ticket holders received ,which was proved to be claptrap after the council issuing the information regarding the safety certificate came to light , the only question that should be asked & answered is , When are the repairs going to be completed so that the west stand can reopen with the season ticket holders retuning to their original seats ? , then we should all receive another letter offering us a full apology for the inconvenience & the total disrespect that the 1000 season ticket holders have received .
From my seat in the east stand upper tier, is looked like most of those who should have been sitting were actually sheltering from the rain. However, that is not the point. The point is that no-one should be expected to sit outside in the rain during winter. That is why I say elsewhere in this thread that the west stand is no longer fit for purpose. It may be licensed for a particular crowd limit, but if a capacity crowd was housed in that stand, and we got weather like we did against Millwall, where would they all shelter.? It was a breach of the law, but if that area of the ground was near its licensed capacity, in my opinion, it would have been dangerous. Is it right to recognise that now, and show that something needs to be done about it now, or should the CEO wait until there is a problem. I am of course assuming that this is the reason the West Stand has been closed, but we are waiting for a full explanation which I hope will come later this week.
The top left corner of the ponty end was absolutely rammed with people who had moved to the back of the stand. They were standing in the gangways, across the back of the stand, everywhere. Should the ponty end be closed as it's a serious breach of the law?
But the west upper is fully covered & there were no breaches there so by your logic that area should be open. Also, there are uncovered areas in the ponty and east lower that people move from when it rains. I assume these stands are no longer fit for purpose & should be closed too.
Just found an image of red rain desperately trying not to acknowledge that other stands have the standing issue that the west stand does
I have news for you Red Rain , it is our choice if we want to sit in the open seats, inclement weather is not something new & when we pay our money we make our choice , we have sat there in the premier league with all the seats taken & guess what , we had some matches when the weather was naff but it did not cause a problem which resulted in the stand being shut , you say your opinion is that it is dangerous & something needs to be done about it now, well thank goodness they do not issue safety certificates from the comfort of your seat in the east stand upper , you assume that is why the west stand has been closed well according to the letters issued you are wrong & will you please stop & think before you spout your assumptions you assume & presume too much .
You need to find a picture of a 70 year old man with his fingers in his ears. Seriously, you think an area of the ground where 95% is open to the weather is comparable with an area of the ground where 95% is not is comparable.
Back in the day, I used to stand where the open seats are in the West Stand. It is the second place in the ground that I was asked to vacate. There were no seats there at the time and the Government had ruled that we must all sit. In my final season, I watched as the East Stand gradually took shape. I moved reluctantly, but my seat in the east stand has a far better view than I had elsewhere in the ground, and in retrospect, I am happy that I made the move.
