What's betting the CEO does a Watford on us and has to cancel this due to a meeting with Mr Schopp tomorrow??

Whoever is attending, asking questions tonight this guy needs grilling mercilessly about the West Stand and the team manager.
He also needs his attention drawing to the number of people on this board alone who are electing not to attend even though they are season ticket holders and that that mindset is likely to be reflected in renewals for next season unless the Board sit up and take notice.

Any question on the ownership of the ground or the 750k, he will just pull a Dane and say: "Hey, sorry, I can't answer that, that's one for the owners."

    Ahhh betcha.

Which should be followed up with the following questions:

Did you not think this would come up?
Did you get an update from the club owners?
    If not, will you?

That's it, he needs to be held to account good and proper today by those in attendance. He knows exactly what will come up so has had ample time to prepare transparent responses.

Rightly so...what I meant is that we had almost no answers from Dane (or anyone) about the ownership/ground etc. and I'm fairly certain this will be the same.

It seems obvious to me that they don't care about us or what we think, as evidenced by many of their actions but most recently the West Stand debacle.

His claim of transparency when closing the West Stand was bizarre. As if he thought he'd be able to close it without anyone noticing.

Anything they say is pure lip service...they know that "love for the club" - or however you want to define why you support it - is what is at stake for us, so they trot out platitudes and cliches on social media like: "This is what it means" with a gif of a player celebrating or get Chien to tweet "Keep going Barnsley" but in reality, they don't care one jot, they want our money, to sell the club for a profit and that is all.

How we feel - other than our perceived connection/love to/for the club, as I pointed out - is wholly irrelevant to the owners.

Patrick Cryne (and I was critical of his running of the club at times) did share our connection to the club. So that was slightly different.

Look at the Saudis and Newcastle - "they've got their club back" they keep saying, when 100% they obviously haven't. They might never see it again.

My expectation of anything of note from this is very remote. I hope I'm wrong, but the way the club (and I really mean the owners steering the club) deals with flaring of dissent is to deny, obfuscate and then go silent looking to ride it out.

We've seen it many times already and I pretty much expect it to be more of the same tonight. And in fairness to the new CEO, he's been given a really tough gig by his handlers and can't really win.

I'd like to add a question about American attitudes to sport.

Do they still not get, after 4 years, that an English club is at the very root of it's town / city's history and identity, and fans have had it in their blood for generations. We are not an American franchise that exists in Barnsley this year, but another state or even time-zone the year after. It's a British way of life they are trying to grasp and failing to do so.

This isn't the Barnsley Buccaneers, 2021. This is Barnsley FC, formed in 1887 and hopefully here forever.

They aren't failing to grasp it, sadly, they just don't care.

I've got a question for him.

Is he happy with the playing recruitment this summer?

Does he have any theories as to why we've suffered from so many injuries this season?

For me, there shouldn't be a single question asked about Schopp or the players tonight. Every question should revolve around the ownership of the club (and its various parts), the financing of the installments and the closure of an entire stand which, on the surface appears to be for no reason other to help Sheff United fans outnumber us at our own fuc king ground.

Here’s a conspiracy theory… maybe they’re telling Schopp to make us lose so that more away fans want to come to Oakwell, certain of a victory. Think of the pounds to be made. :p
