I've rambled on a bit lately, sometimes trying to add a bit of humour, sometimes trying to convey anger or sadness. There has been a lot of anger at "the club" (he says, stating the bleeding obvious) whether it is the 80%s or the 20%s or the joint bit in the middle, that nobody quite gets. But before I log off, and whilst you all get popcorn prior to tonight's meeting, please add your thanks to this thread to the real people who make up the club. I say this on the back of a long message of thanks I have just sent to the lady who helped me with tickets after my forced eviction. Maybe they all read on here too, or hear comments, and if that is the case, I'd like to thank the local and not so local staff, who run what we have left of a club because they love their job. That is obvious through the help I got. Above and beyond The much maligned caterers, who try their best with what they have. The box office, who have had more crap to deal with in two months than my job has given me in 2 years. The turnstile staff who get sworn at and looked down on. The program sellers. The matchday announcers and the Barry Murphys of this world who make the match day as pleasurable as THEY possibly can. The stewards - jobsworth ones or otherwise. The media - the modern mouthpiece of the club. They write what they are told, they let us know what they can. There is a junior there working for nowt ......... he's doing more than his bit. Keep it up kid. The car park attendants The fella who gets ridiculed every week for shouting 'half time draw' And more ..... That core staff have the same attitude and work ethic as 1978 when I started following this community club. Proper folk, earning a living. A big THANK YOU from me. Sorry if that is a bit like an Oscars speech, but when I slate 'the club' ........ as has been the case ....... not a single word of it is directed at those above. Add your thanks pls.
I just hope a lot more fans think more like this amid all this upheaval cos that what it feels like. WHO would have thought it could go as bad as this after last season. I would love to know what the coach is thinking or trying to do.
Long time no see, but thought I'd also mention Roy that there is a plate-spinner / acrobat act doing the rounds in Fuerteventura who is the spit of your good self. Doppleganger.
Nice one Andy, we have some fantastic people in our club, hope they know how much they are appreciated.
The only thing I can disagree with is the bar & catering, which is a joke. As far as I understand it these are subcontracted and are useless. With you on the rest.
Can complain about the companies contracted, but the individuals actually at Oakwell working for them on match days do their best in difficult circumstances
If anybody disagrees with that they must be part of an international capitalist consortium out to make money on the cheap out of local peoples love for their football club....
